Default Weather at the beach

Wind woke me up so I figured i'd scope out the forecast and current conditions on the LBP. Yikes.....

... COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM TO 1 PM PST WEDNESDAY FOR MINOR TIDAL OVERFLOW ALONG THE SOUTHERN WASHINGTON COAST...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PORTLAND HAS ISSUED A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY FOR MINOR TIDAL OVERFLOW ALONG THE SOUTHERN WASHINGTON COAST. THIS COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM TO 1 PM PST WEDNESDAY.
THE COMBINATION OF HIGH ASTRONOMICAL TIDES AND AN APPROACHING STRONG PACIFIC STORM SYSTEM WILL LIKELY RESULT IN MINOR TIDAL OVERFLOW WEDNESDAY ALONG THE SOUTH WASHINGTON COAST.
THE FULL MOON WEDNESDAY WILL RESULT IN THE HIGHEST TIDES OF THE MONTH... REACHING 10.6 FEET AT TOKE POINT AROUND 11 AM WEDNESDAY MORNING AND 11 FEET AROUND NOON THURSDAY. MEANWHILE... A LARGE PACIFIC STORM SYSTEM WILL BE PUSHING HEAVY WEST SWELL OF UP TO 19 FEET INTO THE SOUTH WASHINGTON COAST. IN ADDITION... HEAVY RAINFALL IN THE WILLAPA HILLS WILL CAUSE RIVER LEVELS TO BE HIGH... POSSIBLY EXACERBATING THE TIDAL RISES IN AREA BAYS AND RIVER INLETS.
MINOR FLOODING WILL BE POSSIBLE IN LOW LYING AREAS ESPECIALLY AROUND WILLAPA AND BAKER BAYS. WITH THE TIDAL... SWELL... AND RAINFALL CONDITIONS EXPECTED... SIMILAR CONDITIONS IN THE PAST HAVE YIELDED MINOR FLOODING ON PORTIONS OF HIGHWAY 101 NEAR RAYMOND. MINOR FLOODING HAS ALSO OCCURRED IN THE PORT OF ILLWACO IN SIMILAR CONDITIONS TO THOSE FORECAST FOR WEDNESDAY.
WHILE THE BEST CHANCE OF TIDAL OVERFLOW WILL OCCUR AS THE OCEAN SWELL PEAKS ON WEDNESDAY... TIDES WILL BE HIGH TODAY AND THURSDAY AS WELL. RESIDUAL SWELL WILL LIKELY LINGER INTO THURSDAY. RIVERS MAY ALSO STILL BE RUNNING HIGH THURSDAY... SO MINOR TIDAL OVERFLOW MAY OCCUR AGAIN MIDDAY THURSDAY.
A COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY INDICATES THAT ONSHORE WINDS AND TIDES WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE FLOODING OF LOW AREAS ALONG THE SHORE.

What a difference a day makes. I was down in the Yachats area yesterday and man was it beautiful. Sunny and warm with very little breeze. I even saw a couple of people wading in the surf (in bathing suits)as if it were July or August. I guess they knew what was coming so they had to enjoy a nice day at the beach while they could. SG

I took both dogs down to the beach yesterday and ran the snot out of them. I knew they would be in the house for the most part the next couple of days.

Just a little blow for us that live here. I don't even get worried until the weather folks start forecasting 80 MPH +. It's just what you get used to.
