Default Coyote Hunting

So the other day I was leaving work in the McDunn forest and spotted a coyote in a field (no rifle) and I got me thinking about how I would love to get my first one. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on where to go or access to some private land that I could hunt on around corvallis or even mcminnville. If it is private land I would be willing to do some work in exchange for permission. Any help with info would be greatly appreciated!!

There have been hundreds of posts about getting started. Use the search feature and that'll get you started. Otherwise, Rusty has a couple of seminars coming up. He's a great guy with great information; you ought to try to attend. That'd get you started the right way.

There are a bunch of coyotes on the dunes here and it would be great to get one with a bow. My partner and I have tried to call them in but we are doing something wrong because we can't get it to work. Occasionally, we see them and my partner almost got one last year. It would be helpful to go to a seminar on calling, does that guy Rusty ever get down to the central coast?

I've tried working on my calls with an open reed setup, and it's extremely difficult.

I think the coyotes around my place don't get up until late, but around 10pm on a non-rainy evening, I can hear them howling like crazy.

The more coyotes bumped off the better. Disregard any notions that they are getting low in numbers--they are not. A web search should help with whatever problems you're having.
