Default Favorite Halibut Scent ?

We are going halibut fishing Aug6-10, and I wanted to know if you guys use scents or don't bother with them. I will put smelly jelly herring salt on sometimes but not sure if it really helps. Does anyone make Octopus scent? Thanks in advance

QF,
I was using the same thing the last week in May. It seemed to help. I lost my big fish, but it was a BRUTE. I think that with it so dark down there smell would help entice them. I am going to try the glow inthe dark hoochies as well. Something to vibrate or make sound. I know Big MO is down there some where. What about a size 22/00 Hook with a 32 oz. Jig head? HMMMmm. Good Luck out there this week-end and be safe. Tight lines, Tom

I fished for halibut offshore from Ucluelet,Vancouver Island B.C. this last June. The guide insisted we use Power Grubs for bait as he said the Dogfish did not like them but the Halibut did. Sure enough, we got the flatties and not Dogfish until we had six onboard. Meat is always good, but if you start coming up with bit off leaders your feedin the dogs
