Default Goodbye

I must resign from my volunteer job and from this community. It is not negotiable and my decision is final.

The reasons for this are personal and do not reflect on the community. Ifish is a wonderful place and I wish you all the best of luck.

Jennie, please remove my superhuman powers and disable my account.

So, does disable my account mean you don't want to belong to ifish at all? Or disable your moderator abilities.

It is better to burn out than fade away as Kurgan would say.

Jon...I usually speak my mind ...and.this is bull brother.

If you are dropping monderator, no big deal. But if your bowing out from your friends, I have an issue with that one. Your a great guy and I am not saying good bye....

Whatever your reason I will respect because, I know this can't be easy for you, your heart is just to big.

Jon, I can read between the lines..... and if you need anything please just ask, I won't leave ya a drift, remember we all come back.

Take a big breath, and don't under estimate your friends.

Till later Bro...

I to am one of those people that have never met you and as you can see from the number of my posts that I’m new to the discussion board. But I’ve been reading the threads for a long time. There has hardly been a day that your name hasn’t come up and I have learned a lot from you, and for that I thank you. I am sad to see you go but I wish you luck.

John,

You can't leave the moderating on this forum to crabbait alone! Heck he has a full time job with me alone! Ah, I'm coming around.

And like TundraIII said, you're one of his favorite three right behind me.

You got wak'm&stak'm so flustered he spelled your name wrong!

I found it is very difficult to leave ifish even if you are a contraversial newbie like me. Hopefully you just meant bowing out of the moderating and that is only momentary.

It wouldn't be the same without your poetic fishing reports and stories.

Hope you get this issue resolved as many of us have.

Take care bro.

Dano

Pilar,
you are one of the reasons I joined this site.
I even meet you at Depo Bay and you gave us numbers for the 61 degree Tuna area. We went out and had a very successful trip! Most people would just laugh and give you some bogus answer.
You are a wealth of knowledge and are willing to share it with us.
Thanks for being there for us!

John, What can I say?
You are the majority of the reason that I am living my saltwater fishing dreams.
I owe you so much I can't even begin to thank you.
I know how much you get out of contributing to this board and I just can't believe the change that I have seen lately.
Maybe this is a good thing, to step back and reflect a while. But there is something fishy here and it is ripe, it stinks.
John, you are my fishing brother, my pew pal at the Church of the Bent Rod. You can't just up and leave church. Church is in your heart, your soul.
Something just isn't right here. Would you please answer my call and drop me a line.
I will always be here for you man.
I think we should go camping or something. What do you say?

But the more I think about it, well now I'm concerned about you John. I hope everything is alright. I'm wondering what would make you take such drastic action. You are a LEADER here and your absence will create a void that can not be filled.

Hi john,
I hope you are seeing the domino effect it has had here this morning. You also showed me some of the ropes and Boat rules etc. Did you know how powerful you are to this site? Welp..It is causing a Thunder and Lightning Storm out side and here on the Salty Dogs Forum. I'm not kidding. You are Thee Salty King here and we all Love you like a Brother and will do anything you may need help with. I for one am going to run to the store for some nice Cigars and some good Tequila. Hopefully I will catch up with you at either Depot Bay or Newport and sit down and talk about things. I won't be able to be there til Thursday though. I sure hope I can find ya. We all respect what you have done here and you have many followers. Hang in there Bro. Tom

Hey JOHN< SP correct?)

As I read these posts I get to feelings....

#1....is you have lots of dear freinds and touched many lives...

#2...is....overwhelming.....I sure as heck hope you do not think you have to carry some load for us, or live to some higher standard....or be somekind of fishing God.
I like Mr. Fishermans camping idea.
Sometimes it is ok, to relax....fish when it is calm, and come home empty handed.....believe me I do it plenty of times. It is easy to demand more of yourself than we have a right too.

I don't care if you ever write on here again...but lets go put the fun back in fishing...

I am not sure what the burr under your saddle is, but quitting and leaving is not putting the shovel in a stationary position. If you have had it with moderating, give the superhuman powers to somebody else. Leaving ifish is sort of like firing up the backhoe and moving some dirt.

Hope to see you on the water, and on the net.

It isnt like us pups need weened.

Forgive me for being familiar but I love you all too. This is a personal matter and I cannot discuss it in public. It has nothing to do with Ifish or any of you.

Ray, you are the man.

If you love something accept it the way it is ... set it free.

The wild bird will die a bitter death and often will never sing again after it is captured. There is too much here to just walk away. But I must have some space and figure some things out.

Give yourselves some credit here. This place exists because people of like minds .. minds cleared by the reality of the ocean and dealing with the biggest living thing on the planet ... came together to work, to share knowledge, to love one another and play together. Without all of you there is no Salty Dogs.

I would gladly fish beside any one of you and have with many. The volunteer effort by me for Ifish is over. I cannot do all of the things I do at the same time very well. I am choosing to do just a few important things to the best of my ability and the rest not at all.

Please accept my apology for leaving like this but it is what I must do.

John,
For what ever is your reason for leaving, I can respect that! Personal is personal and needs no explanation. You have been a great friend to me, and you have "schooled" a great number of "salty pups" and I commend you for that. Please know you will always have an open seat with your name on it on the BLACK ROCKET! If there is anything I can do for you, please do not hesitate to call on me.

You true friend and fellow Ifisher

What you talkin' 'bout Willis?!
What ever your reason for your decision? I can respect that.
Just let me say this and I'm sure many others share the same feelings....We all owe you a great debt of gratitude to you for all you have done for us and many that we may never even know. I think I (we) would be greatly remiss if we didn't give a great big hug. Ya big galoot! Your concern for everyone's safety out there, your tips on tuna and halibut fishing for the average dude with a boat and your generosity and willingness to share this information and much more shows that you are definately on the road of the true human being my Amigo.
Please email or call me if you'd like to talk. I'm not trying to change your mind, just talk. I still want to go fishing with you. So don't be a stranger.
As this is like loosing a dear friend or family member, we can continue using your example to guide us in our quest fro greater fishy awareness. To find our inner TUNA! You are a goal that many should strive for.
Best wishes on your journey,
Ragnar

I can't quite bring myself to take you down all that quickly. In fact, it is beyond my powers, at least today.

You bunch of salties are a pretty self moderating bunch.

Please, if you have a problem, just whistle the alert, and I'll assist.

It won't be the same without Pilar. I miss you already, John...

Moderating is a huge job. I'll take you down in time. I just can't, today... I just can't. It has to sink in for a while, and maybe by then, you'll change your mind?

I called John this morning to see if he'd watch the main board for me while I was fishing. He didn't answer. I left a message. He didn't call back. Now I know why, and it's hit me like the strongest wind on my sails.

John, if there is anything I can do, or anything that I have done in the past that needs mending, please let me know.

I'm going to take this to a higher power.

Jen

John, thank you very much for posting, and at least clearing a bit of the mystery out of the original post.

I only fished with you once, but toasted several hornitos and barly pops and the TA meetings. I hope you won't mind when I call and see if you have an open seat, or with a question on my boat, because I will.

I'd like to echo the sentiments already set forth in this thread and say if you are gone for good you will be sorely missed my brutha' I truly enjoyed being part of Team Pilar and look forward to another trip out. I'd still like to see the decks awash in steamy blood....

That said take whatever time you need for whatever it is that beckons you or put such demands upon your soul...

What the heck!?

The creator of the Salty Dog’s is leaving?

John-
I, like a lot of people here have learned so much. I remember you said one time at a Tuna! meeting, “If I had known what everybody collectively knows, it wouldn’t have taken me three years to figure out all these ocean fishing techniques”, or something along those lines. It is true; you have taken us all to a higher level. I listen to the radio when out on the salt, and everyone is looking for you. Why? Because we know we can get an honest answer and some damn good advice!

If you are leaving for good, you will be sadly missed my friend. If someone has said something to influence you, please ignore it. The people who are with you are greater than those against you and we’ll stand behind you 100%!

John,
Because of you, I was able to take my boat out in the big blue for the first time this past weekend.
I posted a question, and you were one of the only few ifishers to give a responce. I was honored that you answered. Because I am a salty pup, and you were concerned for my safety. Although we never meet face to face, I feel through reading all of your posts we were fishing brothers. You are always welcome in my boat.
Good luck.

Pilar, I have never meant you but have read and learned alot from you on this board. Every thread I read leaves me to believe that your departing is not well liked by the dogs. Thanks for sharing all your great info, you turned me into a Tunaholic wanna be, soon to be a tuna slayer. Hope our lines cross sometime and best of luck to you. Your tuna receipe is outstanding.
Thanks again. Royalfish

Hey, wait a minute. We're going to be okay. Just think:

Roy can show us which Zuckers to get

and Pete can show us how to tie a hand-line

and I finally get to look like Keta.

We'll be fine while you're gone - but you might want to hurry back.

Yer our brother, brutha. No forgetting that.

Don't throw the baby out with the bath water John. Stick around and just play on weekends and evenings. You don't have to run this place to be part of it. Put your time where it does you the most good, but don't overextend yourself. Hey I know you have time between midnight and 6 am!

Pilar,
I have been on this board for a long time and you have always been one that I have really looked up to. I have gleened some great sturgeon tech from you and you really have perked my interest in fishing the salt. I hope that whatever you have going on gets worked out and I wish you the best.

Thanks and I hope to see ya around

Tanner

Can I follow that advice, too?
I just wanna play too now. OK?

I renamed the Dogs, "Pilar's Salty Dogs"

It should have been done a long time ago. I just thought of it, though!
