Default Wash Down Pump Failure

I seem to have bad luck with my wash down pump.Iam on my second pump in two years (Flo-jet) I run fresh water through it after every trip.I still have problems with the bearings freezing up any help out there on maybe a different brand that you guys have had good luck with? Thanks RR

River Rick,

Are you sure it's a salt-water problem and not an electrolysis problem. When you say the bearing freeze up, what do you mean? Can you elaborate? Is it the bearings or the motor?

The bearing on yhe pump is a water lubricated type and the motor housing is steel. The whole setup is just not saltwater friendly.I was able to tear it all the way down and greased and lubed everything possible but it sounds like it is on its last leg.I spent $150 on this one at the start of the season this year.I do not want to by this same model again. I've torn mine down once allready also, it locked up in the first 6 months no problems since. One thing I did start doing after that was making sure that I ran freshwater through it after each salt use (gotta rinse out the pump in freshwater anyway) wish I didn't have to do that but it seems to help.
