Flu shot & day after
I didn't know if I was going to get the flu shot this year, as in past years, I have, but this year, I was going to pass, and today I wish I passed on it, I don't get sick, good jeans I guess, but after getting it yesterday, and working under the company truck, and being out on the town last night, cold weather, had a couple of beers, I got up at 6am, went to the bathroom, walked out into the liven room, looked at the sofa, and layed down, just because it felt good, and the next thing I know it's 11:30, and I feel like crap.
My wife said you don't sleep that long, are you feeling "OK", I said I feel fine, just feel like I am dragging a anchor behind me.
No feaver, sweats, I do ake.
May be tomorrow I well feel just fine. Must of been the flu shot????

Re: Flu shot & day after
Thats why I don't get the shots
I'm like you, I just don't get sick much. That may have something to do with being self employed or just stubborn.
They say that the shot is a dead virus and that it can't make you sick.
In spite of what they say it was pretty coincident with me. 3 shots and
3x I got sick.

Re: Flu shot & day after
The paper that you recieved when you got the shot is says very clearly that some of the possible side effects are cold like symptoms. They should wear off quickly.

Maybe.
But I think what you wear probably has little to do with being sick.
Your genes might be helping.
And while indeed you may be having a reaction to the vaccine, it is far milder than the actual flu, even if you feel like crud. As was pointed out by Stg in an earlier thread on this topic, real flu involves a significant amount of respiratory distress, lasts a week or more and generally makes one feel like death warmed over.
Hopefully since you got a shot maybe you won't feel like that this winter.
Hope you feel better soon.

Re: Flu shot & day after
From a documentry I've seen the surium (sp) they make is a crap shoot as to the strain they are targeting, and hope they made the correct one that will dominate the country, the dicision is made many months if not a year in advance before production. so which one will hit???

Re: Flu shot & day after
Sorry to hear your results.
I get very minor effect and can just ignore it. For a few bucks getting a flue shot every year is very cheap insurance. Not guranteed, but much better than doing nothing.

Re: Flu shot & day after
I get a flu shot every year including this one. I have never had a reaction from the shot and I have not had the flu since I started getting the shot 20 years ago.

You sure it's the flu shot ! The whole family got them last Tuesday including my 5 and 9 year old and had no problems. If you've seen someone that truly has the flu, crap shoot or not, I'll take the shot.

Re: Flu shot & day after
I usually feel a bit cruddy for 4 or 5 hours afterwards. So I get it in the afternoon. Come home have a few tylenol and a couple beers, and take it easy. By the next morning I feel fine.
Well worth it, haven't had the flu since I started getting the shot. I remember all too well how bad it feels.

Re: Flu shot & day after
I think I will take my chance this year and get the flu shot for the first time my work is offering them for free rp

Re: Flu shot & day after
I will never have one again. I used to get really sick for about 3 weeks afterward. After being forced to snort the nasal vaccine I'm done with them.
