Default Blacktail Forked Horn

I actually got him on Tuesday. I was hunting the Saddle Mt unit near Jewell. I tried sneeking around the timber in the am because the weatherman was predicting some pretty strong winds. I hear what I assumed was a deer (scraping on brush, breaking branches, etc) but never got close enough to see it. As soon as the sun came out, I figured the deer might be getting up in the clearcuts, so I moved out of the timber. At around 10:30, as I was walking on a logging road I spotted him about 150 yards away looking at me. One shot with my 30.06 did the trick. I was about 1.5 miles away from my rig, so I straddled him on my mountain bike (front legs over the handle bars, gut on the seat) and wheeled him out. Certainly not my biggest buck, but not bad for a westside forkie.

Congrats on a nice buck! I was out just above Timber Junction this morning. Tons of sign, no bodies! The deer win for this year! Oh well, elk is just around the corner!

Thats a heck of a nice fork - big forks like that are a cool trophy, plus he sure looks like a healthy deer.
Congrats

Now that would be quite a photo! Imagine walking up a road when you see another hunter walking alongside his bloody buddy on a bike!

Nice job man!
