Tuesday and Wednesday tuna
My but the weather looks intriguing for early next week. Tuesday and Wednesday predict good seas (3&4 and 2&4) and west swells that should bring in the warmer water. Any takers for Tuesday and/or Wednesday pack hunts? I and my crew will be champing at the bit to go! Need wing folks and radio companions. TUNA!!!!

Re: Tuesday and Wednesday tuna
With a lot of variables and maybes, depending on how things go, Sculpin might be ready for a maiden voyage on Tue/Wed. Pick her up tomorrow for sea trials. More shakedown Sunday. We will see what happens.

Re: Tuesday and Wednesday tuna
Anyone else thinking about going? I would love to have some other boats on the hunt! Tuesday and Wednesday look good for weather and the most recent SST I saw looked very doable. Lets get some TUNA!

Re: Tuesday and Wednesday tuna
I'll have to see how work is shaping up this week as to whether I can make it out on Wednesday (Tuesday is definitely out). Unfortunately, I won't know for sure until at least noon on Tuesday,
I owe a buddy a trip, he only has weekdays off, and one needs to take advantage of the weather windows. I am curious as to whether or not the warm water is really closing in or not. I'll check on the SSTs, the updated forecast, and have a better feel for work tomorrow.

Re: Tuesday and Wednesday tuna
Pilar,
I am not going to pass it up if I can help it! I have hopes of actually going tuna fishing Tuesday, Wednesday, AND Thursday, with the posibility of after halibut, on Friday and Saturday, going out for some more...I just figured that Tuesday and Wednesday will be the hardest to get other boats to go out to the tuna grounds with. This is shaping up to look like a nice window

Re: Tuesday and Wednesday tuna
First somewhat-decent satellite shot for a while:
recent coastwatch
I can see how they got fish close in from Coos Bay; great looking temp break there. Looks like a NW run from Depoe to find decent water; a big hole of cold water off Newport though. Maybe a few days of mile weather will change that. Sure would be nice if the tuna showed up at the chicken ranch so we could catch'em in between halibut drifts.
BTW, billfish were just sighted from a Half Moon Bay charterboat run by a friend of mine.

Re: Tuesday and Wednesday tuna
WP, I want to go in the worst way. Obstacles include I have to get out of work at a very busy time. Also I have no crew.
No one likes to TUNA! fish and I have no prospects for team mates.
Maybe I'll do a solo.

Cap'n Pilar,
I would consider it an honor to fish with you Sir! Consider yourself partially crewed should you decide to venture forth in search of flyers.
Looks like I'll be going Wednesday, but I can double up!
These decisions are never easy . I'm just trying to do my part
Subliminal message: They're laughing at you Pilar, THEY'RE Laughing!!!!!!!!!!!!! Must Kill Tuna!!!!!! Must Kill Tuna!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Tuesday and Wednesday tuna
Come on John...the nice thing about work is that it will always be there when the fishin' is done...or we won't miss it if it happens to go away while were gone! Sounds like you have a creqw and an itch...Sea Jypzee has it pegged I think...maybe a little closer than tuna town. The Pile has 54 degree water so maybe warm enough at the 61 degree spot again????? Teusday and Wednesday look best though Thursday could be great too!
WP sings the song of the Siren as John's thoughts stray to the lure of the tuna grounds......

Re: Tuesday and Wednesday tuna
The Blitz is departing 0500 hrs. on Tuesday, heading for 44 45/124 40 and points NW. Anyone out there tomorrow, give me a call on cb 27, vhf 78/16 and we'll find em! The SST looks good for a sharp edge in that area and I just know they will be there waiting for us!

Re: Tuesday and Wednesday tuna
Right now out of Coos Bay that thermal break is producing some great fishing for the longfins. Dad made a chase today, and I get to work. Retired life I tell ya. Anyhow, I'll post some results here this afternoon. Two days ago they got into them pretty heavily at 26 miles out. Man I can't wait until friday!

Re: Tuesday and Wednesday tuna
I have had a few enquiries but no one has signed on yet. Promoting irresponsible behavior aside, I am calling in sick tomorrow and killing some TUNA!
There are some of you that have asked for this experience before. I am inviting you to join me.

Re: Tuesday and Wednesday tuna
Bugleman, bless you in advance. And dare you go to work and spread your sickness, take tomorrow off (for the benefit of your co-workers, of course) and get some fresh air.
I feel like I might be starting to get a little stuffed up too..... ha..chew!
