Well, I have to get up in a couple hours to go catch some lings with a couple ifishers so i will make this short.

Haven't heard any reports from Newport.

Personally, I would fish Depoe. Lots of habitat and open ocean. Wind will be a factor though if the forecast is right. It's bloowwing pretty good right now (1:15am).

North point would be a protected spot from the wind. Morocco also but tricky getting down in there if you've never been.

#1 Octopus, #2 Herring, #3 Squid in that order but don't know that you can buy octopus anywhere.

Thanks for the info Depoe Bay Dan! Octipus is available @ most Winco's. If it don't catch fish, it makes a good red sauce for pasta!

Just starting to fish out of Depoe Bay. Wife and I have been working on the place behind Gracies. It is almost done and I am ready to direct efforts seaward. Any tips on navigating the bay entrance?

Slim, the thing to remember about the wall at DB is to announce your departure and entrance to avoid meeting another boat one the way in or out. You can also get on the radio channel 80 to announce your intent. Make sure you do this, the slot is narrow but deep and can be crossed almost at any time or tide. You just have to stay in the middle and go, you cannot turn around in the channel. Just follow someone in or out the first time and you will be fine. Always be safe when in the ocean, wear your pfds and make everyone on your boat do the same. Small price to pay for ones life if ever needed.
