Sanity, where did you go?
A day in the life of a stay-at-home mom:
Scenario #1:
Me: "What number is this, son?"
Toddler: "One!"
Me: "Very good! Now, what number is this?" (Writing down a 2)
Toddler: "Grass!"
Me: "No, what number?"
Toddler: "Grass with flowers!"
Me: *sigh*
Scenario #2:
Me: (on the phone with the dentist's office) "Yes, I'd like to schedule an appointment."
Toddler: "Want talk Gramma!"
Me: "It's not Gramma, son. Be quiet while Mommy's on the phone."
Toddler: "WANT TALK GRAMMA!"
Me: "It's not Gramma. Go play."
Baby: "Waaaaah!"
Toddler: (Leaving baby's room) "Jim wake sister up!"
Me: *sigh*
Scenario #3:
Me: (Peacefully checking internet while kids nap)
Toddler: "Waaaaaah!"
Cat: (Leaving room of formerly sleeping toddler)
Toddler: "Kitty jump on Jim."
Baby: (waking upon hearing toddler): "Waaaaah!"
Me: *sigh*
Scenario #4:
Me: (Getting dinner ready)
Baby: (Pulling every single video off the shelf)
Me: (Picking videos up and putting baby in crib)
Toddler: (Unfolding entire pile of folded laundry)
Dinner: (Burning on stove)
Me: *sigh*

Get revenge. Live long enough to be a burden to your children.

Re: Sanity, where did you go?
My two year old girl is quite infatuated with waking her twin brother up when she goes to the bathroom at 4:30 a.m. She'll come back from her potty run then stands by his bed and yell his name until he wakes up...simply so he can turn on the overhead light for her. She's too short to reach it but he can.
Needless to say....twins getting up at 4:30 a.m. and then together working to wake their 5 year old brother up in the other room...getting old quick. Ever since daylight savings time shifted. Someone didn't get the memo.
However....I am not a stay at home parent and not sure I could do it. Good on ya Melissa and have faith it only gets more "interesting" :-)

Re: Sanity, where did you go?
"Did anyone see my last marble
As it rolled out and over the floor?
It fell through a hole in the corner
Of a room in a town on a tour It's lonely without your last marble
I miss it not rattling around
As I lie in my bed there's a space in my head
Where there used to be colours and sound
. . .
Did anyone see..
Did anyone see..
Does anyone see?
. . .
Did anyone see my last marble
I swear that I had it before
Sometimes I think I should go see a shrink
In case he can find me some more
Did anyone see my last marble?
I'd saved it to give it away
Since I was a youth
Now I don't have no proof
Only words
Only words
Only words."

Re: Sanity, where did you go?
Melissa,
I had my wife read this -- she's a stay at home with our son, and watches two other families children, and she confirms...
Definitely a day in the life. Stick to it.. I just keep telling my wife, it's like that country song... "You're gonna miss this.."
I full on agree, you have the toughest job on the planet, also the most important. Stick to it!

Re: Sanity, where did you go?
Lol.
watching the elections on tv the other night, my 3 year old has known who the candidates both are for months. He asked my wife and I who we voted for and then he told us:
"Oh, I voted for Oswald"
(Oswald is a talking blue octopus cartoon character.)
My wife told him that's why they don't let three year olds vote.

haha!
Although, I'll have to add that this is prob the 'good' times. Just wait when they hit their teens, I know I was a complete and utter nuiscience for my parents... and I did random and illogical things as well when I was a teen too!
