Default Auto pilots for the main motor

Okay, after riding on Miss B. Saturday I realize that if I go for Tuna next season it would be real nice to install the "auto pilot" on Cindy Lou. She's a 23' Trophy with a 4.3 v6 mercruiser. For electronics I have a ratheon radar with gps and chart plotter all in one unit and a ratheon fish finder.

How expensive will it be to equip my boat with the goodies or is it really necessary at all when doing tuna? Or for that fact salmon? Or is it just a luxury for that small of a boat?

I would appreciate imput on brands, cost and the best outlet for this device. Thanks ahead of time

Bernie

Bernie, I have heard they run about $2200 and thai is a drop in the bucket for Cindy Lou. She is already a fish catching machine. I have not seen any photos of your Ocean catches yet and would like to know how you have been doing out there. I've hit Newport and Depoe Bay a few times and seem to catch to many nates for my liking. Maybe the nate to hatchery fish will be bettter at the CR this year.

Did you every install that underwater camera so you can watch your bait being hit?

I just ordered the Raymarine package electronics for my new boat. Raymarine ST5000 Plus Autopilot sells for about $1300.

Bernie- You might want to check with Tr-1. They have a unit that runs the main now.

man, so many toys and so little money. Sure appreciate the information folks. Just starting to look into this for Cindy Lou. It would be a cool addition for next year. Got to count pennies this winter and see if I can swing it with the other upgrades she will be getting.

Ray, no Atlantis camera yet. someday that would be cool though. We used them in alaska for halibut in 100ft of water. Awesome to watch the bite as it happens.
