Question Where to get my speedometer calibrated?

I live in Aloha and I am looking for a place to get my speedometer calibrated!..I have received 2 speeding tickets in the past (neither got put on my record, THANK GOD!) for going much faster than my speedometer said!..I am running 36x12.5 mud tires and I know that throws it off, but it throws it off a heck of a lot!....When my speedometer reads 55 I am really doing 68, thats why i have received a couple of tickets!!

So where would you recommend to go?...And do you know the approx cost?

Thank you....

What size tires were you running before, and what rig do you have? I checked how much it would cost to re-program the speedo on my Dodge at the dealership. They wanted $90 I think.

I drive past a speedometer repair place twice a day. I will get their info for you. It is on Front Ave in the Industrial area just past Gundersons.

If it is a newer truck, the speedo is electronic and can be reset with a OBD2 reader. I think even the cheaper ones will do this. If you know someone with one of these machines you could reprogram it for free.

have you done the old fashioned self test? Set the cruise on 60 and it should take you 60 seconds between mile markers!

Just have someone with a known accurate speedometer parrallel you on the fwy at 60mph, or find one of those radar machines that tells you how fast your going.

Exclamation Re: Where to get my speedometer calibrated?

First off, why don't you can just calibrate it against a GPS?

Second, with all due respect, an inaccurate speedo never held any water with me (or most judges). I have written countless tickets to folks with this excuse. My speedo hasn't been accurate in my truck for years. A also have over sized tires on it, so it reads slow. In short, I know the speedo isn't accurate and drive accordingly.

Having said that there are different speedo drive gears you can get and install in the transmission. They are color coded. But I never saw the need for this in my truck for the reasons I alluded to.

I was waiting for you to say what truck you have. I have a Dodge and my programmer let's me set the tire size for the ECU. Maybe you know someone with a Duramax programmer that will do it for you.

Yep, both tickets I got dropped cause my speedometer was so far off....They were nice cops and judges...pretty rare!....I just forget about it from time to time and cause its a bigger truck it doesn't feel like your going to fast!!..I just want to get it fixed!!

So what county do you work in?...remind me never to go there!....But thanks for your advice...
