Default Very Memorable Day with Fishin Magician (more pics added)

I jumped on the opportunity yesterday to for an "open seat" guest in an awesome day of fishing with Fishin Magician on the North coast. A better compliment could not be given than to draw a comparison between John and David Johnson in a fantastic day on the water, and that's exactly what yesterday was. Crayfin was the lucky person in the other front seat. It was a great day with lots of good conversation, fishing, catching, laughter and awesome weather. How can you top that!

We started out on one North coast river, but it was soon apparent that fishing would be a tad slow at best. We pulled the boat and went "elsewhere", where we proceeded to have a very memorable day. Not counting the several hard pound downs on plugs that didn't stick, we went 8 for 9 on the day. Half of them on plugs, the other half drifting eggs.

Half of the fish were nates, half were hatchery brats. Pics to follow, hopefully later today. We brought home only two of the hatchery brats, and released the others to fight another day. The first nate that buried John's "custom" plug tried it's best to crush that thing. After a great fight, a nice 12# buck was kind enough to pose for a quick pic and released quickly, unharmed. I don't think there's a person on the water who could outfish Fishin Magician when it comes to pulling plugs. He certainly earns his nickname. He called at least two of those fish that came on plugs within seconds of the violent pounddowns. Boy, that one plug took a beating yesterday! The second nate figured we were too ugly to be seen in a picture with him and wanted no part of it. Not wanting to argue with him, we obliged and got him on his way.

Then we went on a streak where we got into some nice hatchery fish, with a couple more nates in between. Fishing was fairly steady throughout the day and it was hard to call it a day when we hit the takeout. Todd and John, you two were an absolute pleasure to fish with, I could not have had a more enjoyable day on the water. I hope to get the chance again. THANKS!!!

Skrimmy

I told you to be EASY on John, if his head gets too big I cant get him in the front of my truck and he has to ride all the way to the coast in the back  The man is a "MONSTER" on the oars.
I gotta admit having a day of awesome take downs is pretty cool. Every fish just tomahawked the chosen plug

Had a great time fishing with you too Skrimmy-you seem to have the "gift". I swear you could be looking the other way and get into fish all day long  I really had to bear down just to stay in the game Had me worried right off the bat!

All in all a awesome day on the river. How many times can you get a phone call from one of your buddies, asking you what your doing and reply "Aw, just sitting here watching Skrimmy land a little chromer--why, what are you doing?"

Indeed what was a really fun day! I was wondering if that upside down fish was going to "surface"

I think those crotchless waders coupled with my U2 glasses could be the new "high fashion" fishin set-up

I'll tell you how.

He's a total photo junkie. He gets bent (the fish isn't even to the bank) and next thing ya know, he's like 'Hey uh, would ya mind grabbin the camera out of the back of my vest? I'm a bit busy here.' Poop eatin grin - free of charge. Ya never get any smack talkin' out of Toad when you're fishin.

Dude's got more photos than all Japan combined.

Note: He practises 'The Pose' in his office. I've even been 'coached' for said pose.

Nice job guys. I called Toad today after Skrim-Bob's post and bowed over the phone.

Redbull--I think my gentle toolage has helped you with some great photos

Fishinpoor--Yea, sorry about that bull--you really did take some good pictures of me with that one

You think both of you would catch on and start carrying cameras. "Works every time"
BTW--I did actually catch the ones I am holding you big jerks

Scott--impressive results from the "front lines"
that fish is truly awe inspiring. What a complete ANIMAL of a steelhead

Scott- just saw the updated pic of that fish.......all I can say is You da man!!!!

As for "Picture Weasel" sounds like you got a fan club of your own.....
I can see you in the mornings , getting ready for the day of fishing and photo taking. You look in the mirror ( Lisenting to Low-Ri-Der on the 8track )and tell yourself at least 5 times.... " I am BEAUTIFUL , I like myself, and gosh darn it I WILL get my picture taken today even if it isnt my fish!!!!!!!" Then you go throw a few more stitches in your quilting project you have been working on for a few weeks now, then you are out the door to arrive not 1 minute early or 1 minute late but exactly on time.............

How is that quilted camera cover coming?????

I am still beautiful, but you my friend are PRECIOUS !!!!

John-John, nice job my schmack talkin' bruther!

So, since we're having a nice round of 'Let's all pile-on Toad,' has he ever done the, 'Dude, pull over. I gotta poop now' thing about 2 flippin miles past Staley's? This is of course after he just inhaled a McStaley's McMuffin and a 2 liter of Mtn Dew. Personally I don't see the relation between the two.

PS - "Dude, you got some poopy paper in the car right?" What, do I look like your mother?

Yeah John is a plug pulling machine. Maybe one of these days I might be fortunate enough to get a seat with him and then get the urge to actually pull some plugs .

Everyone says the same stuff about him so you know it ain't no fluke, he's got his stuff dialed. Good job guys

Todd, yeah, I think John's holding out on us with a couple more pics! Let's see, there's the one of you with your upside down fish, I wasn't feeling ornery enough to post that one!
Then there's the one of your "crotchless" waders, and the pics of those last few brats that we released, I haven't seen those yet! Jeez, I've still got a smile on my face from the good time yesterday.
