Default Halibut on the pile?

Pilar did you go to the pile on saturday & do some mooching? How did you do? Did you find any Halibut? Planning on being there on Friday and Saturday but didn't want to make the long trip if not needed.

We mooched the pile for a couple hours Saturday. No halibut but we caught very lttle of anything else either.

I'm probably the last to catch hali at the pile. A 45lber on the 4th of July.

Edit....that should read 45 incher.

Thanks Fishplay looks like were in for the long haul. One good thing about it is it's that much closer to the tuna.

Fishing Dispatcher .. we caught one chicken on a downrigged herring and flasher at the north end. 240 feet of water and I was looking for Mr. Spotty tail at 210. No more than 10 minutes went by and Whack!!.

Last year we got quite a few at the pile after loading the fishbox out at the chicken ranch. We were trying to get some Salmon and the halibut were rampant. The weird thing is that they were hitting a downrigged herring and flasher at 110 feet in 220 feet of water.

I would fish the north end of the pile. Shorter ride, big kings, ling cod and halibut.

What would you change?
