Default Flying fish sighted south of CR Bouy

The Hatchery Coho was showing signs of tiring as he came ever closer to the boat and the waiting net of my friend,Pat Harvey. With one final burst of energy he launched himself straight up and out of the water clearing it by at least four feet. Pat, in a flash of quick thinking, stuck the net underneath the fish as he hung momentarily in the air, before his started his downward decent. The result was as they say"nothing but net" the spash that was never heard and the one that didn't get away. After a quick high five the customary Wood Shampoo was administered to Mr. Airtime.

I came really close to telling my one remaining co-worker that he'd have to cover for everyone because I was headed out to hook a billfish!

While I am impressed by the the acrobatic maneuvers of your silver, and the deft manipulations of your nethand--I must say...PSYCH !!!
Looks like I and a partner may be doing the Hal-bicore-Salmon-Bottomfish grand slam, given the right conditions. I was really hoping to add a Billfish to our tally, though a flying fish which jumped into my net as I attempted to land YET ANOTHER 45# Chinook would have been deemed acceptable by the slam review board . Alas, it was but a STINKIN' SILVER!!! I've been DUPED!!!
See that it doesn't happen again son

I got pretty pumped thinking that the subject was REAL flying fish. I thought...how cool, maybe even a range extension for the species. Was it a California or a blotchwing flying fish? Then of course, how can you think "flying fish" without thinking striped marlin, yellowtail and yellowfin.

You story is a pretty good one, but if you would have given it a different title, those of us that are bluewater crazed would not have flipped out.

Hey Bernie- Maybe that's what we saw? Do flying fish have 2-3 foot saber shaped dorsal fins?
