Question Soccer help

My 14 year old Freshman daughter finished her JV season last week and got a call later that night from her coach telling her to plan for practice the next day because she was going to play for the varsity team at Districts. She played yesterday day and the whole team had a tough game, she plays goalie. She told me on the way home from the game that she wanted to try to play in college. She asked me what I thought she should do to work toward that. I told her we would need to do some foot-work to find out.
My question is, does any one play, has played or has kids playing at the college level and could send us some advice on what she/we need to do to work toward that goal. She will be talking to her coaches and asking but thought I would ask the all knowing Ifish crowd

One of my best friends is a girls college coach.
He says that most scholarship opportunities come out of the club ranks where exposure is greater than High School. Make no mistake, HS team is a must but also make sure to be actively involved in a strong local club program and pay for the travelling tournaments.

Find out what she really means by "play in college." Does she mean that she wants to compete for a scholarship at a top Division one school, or that she just wants to go to a college where she can make the soccer team, or something in between?

Spend some time researching the process of marketing your daughter to schools. Try and identify schools she is interested in, and attend soccer camps at those schools.

One warning - you may end up spending more on club soccer, travel, marketing, etc then your daughter is likely to earn in scholarship money.

Good luck!

Well it is all over. They lost their second district game so no more season. The girls played great just not great enough to beat a ranked team. We are working on finding a club team poss indoor.
Thanks for the input!
Any more?
