4X4 Blacktail
I got this bad boy at 930am down here on the coast. About 150yd shot and down he went. Not much more to say as I am more proud of my daughters first deer but knowing her she would get after me for not posting about mine as well so here it is. LOL

Re: 4X4 Blacktail
Great buck!
I have a question that this buck brings to light perfectly. Every blacktail I have ever shot has no eye guards on the rack. This blacktail illustrates that perfectly because it's a big one, but yet, no eye guards. Is this a genetic thing with blacktails or do they have to be over a certain age before they get them or do they never get them at all?

I've got a 4x5 blacky on the wall with 1.5" eyeguards. I would say it's all about genetics.

I've seen at least two including one a hunting partner of mine shot out from under me - well I don't hunt with him anymore so I guess that makes us even.

Re: 4X4 Blacktail
Its in their genetics, some get them and some don't. I've got a couple of forken-horn sheds that have little itty-bitty eye-guards. The buck that dropped it was probably in his second year.

'08 Forky with 1 1/2" eye guards probably 2 yrs old. I'd say genetics are a big factor.

Nice work. I shot my first blacktail buck this year. It was a good sized 3pt. WTG!
