salty dogs "on the road" communications?
Yesterday evening (Friday) I drove from Newport on hwy 20 back to Corvallis between about 6:15 and 7:15. I saw at least 15 boats being towed the other way towards Newport. I'm fairly certain one was Corrirod ((orange/red dory hard too miss), and I'm also fairly certain I saw WP. Also a few other very salty-dog looking rigs (Seaswirl Striper?).
Then I thought, wouldn't it be cool to have a salty dog's "on the road" cb radio channel? Aside from just saying "hi", I could have given folks a real-time fish (or no-fish) report, ocean weather conditions report, where we saw the feed coming in, etc. These folks who are already on the road can not benefit from a late-night web posting, so a one minute radio conversation could be helpful (or as much info as you can cram in before losing reception on a road like hwy 20).
Any of you ever wonder about others you see on the road? What do y'all think about this? Some of you probably already have a cb in the vehicle, and if not it's a pretty cheap piece of gear.
See ya on the road again.....

I like it. I have a pair of CBs and a pair of FRS radios that I like to travel with.
I usually monitor 19 unless I am traveling with someone who has my other radio at which time we use a predetermined channel.
I forget which channels have the strongest signals. Anyone know?

No C.B. and it wasn't me mark (unfortunately)! I think it is a pretty good idea too. An alternative is to better network our cell phones. Choose a contact person and relay data and weather updates through them (would have to pick one each trip). I for onbe would really appreciate a trust worthy assessment of the ocean conditions without having to drag my boat over to Newport or Depoe Bay. Any volunteers?

Wasn't me Mark, I have a red/white/blue dory being pulled by a tan Ford Excursion. I'd be up for the cb deal. I have a portable I carry around.

Well, you guys proved my point (in a way!). It would be nice to confirm whether I was / was not hallucinating that I saw WP's face behind the wheel, or Corrirod's dory (hhmmm....."DoryRod"... or "CoriDoryRod").

MarkMc,
You guys crack me up!!
DoryRod..... Or possibly "Dory Corrirod"
TWB and Corrirod can't even get communications on the water, let alone, driving down the highway.
