Re: Tuna Saturday??
There is a gang of us dawgs and pups running out of Newport in the early morning. The plan is to hit some Salmon at the pile and then if conditions are right, go after the tuna. I think I speak for all of us in saying come down and play with us tomorrow. Dock time 0600 hundred hours, South Beach.

Re: Tuna Saturday??
It looks as if we will be going out 15 to 17 miles to the pile. We have hammered the salmon a lot closer but I want to be able to get a mixed bag of species on the hunt. I have an inboard jet and only plan on bringing 42 gallons of fuel. I probably won't run with the big dogs way offshore hunting for tuna but will consider trolling about 18 miles out if the temp is right. At the very least we should be able to bonk a salmon or two and be back at port before the wind kicks in.

Re: Tuna Saturday??
I'd love to run with the dawgs, so count me in if you don't mind. Who all is going (boat or radio handle) when you speak for "us all" so we can get in touch?
Temps a risin', swells a fallin', but the bar will be a bit rough.

Re: Tuna Saturday??
The Dogs hang on VHF 78. I'll probably be there but I probably won't make the tuna run this time.

Anyone got a water report for today? Looks as if tomorrows conditions will be slighty better. I hope the intervals between swells is more than 6 seconds though

Here's the link if you don't have it already:

Re: Tuna Saturday??
Corrirod- Thanks for the info and link. I don't like it thus far, real uncomfortable in my sled. If the wind will lay down tonight I will consider a run to the pile if not, I will probably just head west a couple miles off the whistle and drop my gear. See you guys on the water...
Bernie- You guys still tuna hunting in the morning out of the CR? Good luck and be safe

Re: Tuna Saturday??
The ebb is still cranking at 0530 Saturday at Garibaldi, LTF, you can sleep in a little bit and catch a better bar crossing around 0700. IMO

Re: Tuna Saturday??
After an all spring and summer absence, I will be back on the water tomorrow with my little white boat. Just finished a complete overhaul and will be at Newport tomorrow for bay trials, to see what I forgot to finish.
With some good luck and low winds I hope to see all of you at sea tomorrow! I don't want to tear up a winters work, in one day!
Rod, what boat will you be in?
Hope I still remember how to fish?
