Ok, I think I've got it figured out. I just got back from a road-trip to Walla Walla and then on to Twin Falls, ID. Tuesday it was 104F in Walla Walla, then 106F in Twin Falls on Wednesday.
As we all know, heat rises. So, when it gets that hot inland, the hot air mass rises, thus pulling in cooler air to displace the rising hot air. That cooler air can only come from one direction, the coast.
So, in conclusion, what we have here on the coast right now isn't wind at all...No, what we're all experiencing is suction.
And I can tell you from very recent experience, 106F sucks!
