Default Best Tides?

I posed this question on the community board, but maybe the salty dogs would give me a better clue. while thumbing thru the tide book trying to calculate the best time for a trip down to nehalem bay, I "thought" the best time would be when there is minimal difference between the the high and low tide, or am I Bass-ackwards here? do you look for a big high tide in the morning hours?

Chummer, I don't mean to be dense but best tides for what?

Are you crabbing in the bay, crossing the bar, surf perch in the bay?

Big tides swings are what you looking for when fishing the bays and estuarys.

Brings more fish in. I always prefer first light fishing but the last half of incoming can be a good producer also on those large exchange days.

How the heck you been anyway chummer. Long time no see. I still have almost all of those smelt. This new split sturgeon season kept me off the water this year.
