Default Pilar, how to make tuna tackle thread?

There was a great "how to" thread posted at the top for awhile. Now that I want to tie-up some terminal tackle, I can't find it using "search" or scanning past pages.

Help, please?

Thank you, sir.

Very useful info.

BTW, I was doing a little research on Ernest Hemingway (for a boating event that I am hosting) and noticed that his custom sportfishing boat was the "Pilar".

Is that what inspired your "Pilar"? What does Pilar mean? Ernest was a cool dude. Him and Zane Grey practically invented hook-and-line marlin fishing.

Yes, it's about the writer's boat. The character Pilar appears in 'For whom the bell tolls'. The Writer's boat bears that name. And now I have a boat with the same name.

Papa was a pioneer in outdoor sports. Fishing in the straights of Florida he pursued Marlin and Swordfish.

Some of the scenes he writes in 'Old man and the sea' and the boy catching a Marlin in 'Islands in the stream' show the experience he had as a fisherman. He notes every detail and you are there as you read.

I just read "The Old Man & the Sea" last year. I had always assumed that it was a huge novel, but was pleasantly suprised to see it could be read in a couple sittings. It was originally a series in a magazine.

That has to be the greatest fishing story ever told.

Hopefully I'll have a good story after my trip to Westport this weekend.

Oh, and one more question: Are treble hooks the "standard" thing to use? Or do folks use single hooks?

I prefer the Mustad #22 barbless doubles. They are about a 10/0 and made of stainless.

Very effective and easy to remove from the fish.

Outside of Hemingways character, Pilar is a fairly common girls name in spanish. I believe that it "translates" to Paula but my memory for such things is not great! The character in the novel has amazing strength and fortitude. Just like what you want in a boat...tough, strong, determined, and feminine. One to love and trust.
