Lower oil prices and more efficient cars will leave consumers with more cash to spend on other things. This could do as much good as a tax cut.

i just can't figure is why gas is more expensive on this side of the mountain???

3 things, you are buying gas delivered some time ago, the cost to truck it from west to east, and less competition between retailers.

It may be local taxes, if not this, then the stations are making a very good profit on their gas. It's hard to know for the little guy to figure out. But there is as large as a $1.00 dollar difference between the high price and the low price of unleaded per gallon.

$3.07 in Sisters. If it costs 50 or 60 cents per gallon to deliver it to Sisters I want that contract. It isn't taxes here. A local station owner told me he gets the price he has to charge in the morning from the same outfit that he represents and it runs around .25 to .50 higher than their station in Salem.

These prices are looking better, but what is going to happen now that OPEC lowered the number of barrels being put out every day? Are prices going up? Or will it flatten out and rise very slowly?

Every automobile company has invested millions--if not billions--retooling their factories to produce more fuel efficient vehicles. No one is in favor of going back to the old ways.

So no more buying SUVs and pick up trucks.

No more Sunday drives...hunting closer to home...pulling the small boat with the smaller vehicle....getting more people too split expenses for fishing trips...etc...

They have created new habits for me and I do not plan on changing regardless of the price.

Take a couple of 5 gallon containers along to fill up. You can use them latter and it will increase the amount you save on the trip. Or use them to put in your boat.

Molalla has been consistantly cheaper than when you drive to Woodburn or like Oregon City into Portland. It has been on average 40 cents cheaper. Right now its 2.36 at Toads,,the east side of Molalla. Meadowbrook store is 2.39, mulino chevron is 2.39 last I looked. By my parents house is the OC its still around 2.79 a gallon.

Wholesale costs are hovering around $2 flat for metro stations.

Yes, there is alot of money being made by the retailers right now.

That being said, when the prices were rocketing up they weren't making much if any in some cases.

internet is great. I am doing all my shopping here so i can park my truck outside collecting the dust. The high gas price really gave us (at least me) a wake up call. I do need my truck. But try to consolidate the trip whenever I can.

I've heard speculation out there that gas will go below $2.00 a gallon. If it does then I'll drag my boat to Costco and make everyone behind me mad!! (65 gal tank and it's all but empty!)

$2.24 at the Salem Costco this morning. It had jumped up to 2.29, but is back down to the $2.24. The stations in Keizer were at $2.67. Big difference. Wish I had a Costco card. Are they still $35??

I did a beer delivery today. Drove by Safeway and it was $2.92. An hour later, on the way back it was $2.85.

I doubt we'll see it under $2.00 in these parts anytime soon though.

But it's good to see it go down.

I wonder how those folks who bought vehicles with a $2.99/gallon gas guarantee are feeling right now?

Wierd.......when it was 'high', Florence was about the cheapest spot around.....being consistently 5-10 cents lower than the lowest prices in the valley.

Today were anywhere from 2.59-2.70......had some errands to run in west eugene so filled up at the Fred Meyers there for 2.49 and with my employee 20 cent discount it was less than $50 for a fill-up! Maybe it will be about 1.50 for xmas!

People, I am enjoying the lower prices of fuel just as much as the next guy, but with the lower prices dont you think that can create problems for us in the future? What happens if oil gets low enough that the big oil companies stop investing in future drill sites because they are not making the profits that they were making. Is this just a temporary lower price? How much of this is just a big conspiracy by the Govt, big oil and the auto makers to get you to buy and use more? People have drastically cut back using fuel but what happens if we go back to are old ways? So is the lower prices really good for us and is the investment into alternative fuels going to slow down because of the lower prices? To me the lower prices seem to good to be true and thats what has me concerened.
