Default Help! things keep coming up!!

I was really planning on going out on the Blitz on the 9 of August. Things keep coming up. I'm trying to make it so all my friends / family can go togather. Trying to find a weekend that we can all go is getting crazy. I know you can't help me with my group's lack of priority but I was hoping that you could tell me if the fishing is still going to be as good as it is now let's say on the 16 of August. Or should I just say forget it and go When I want to?? The more I think about it the better that sounds but if It's going to be as good I probably don't have and excuse for ditching every one.

Why not go twice?? Get out there now and then again when and if the group thing comes together.

As they say practice makes perfect and with newbies (I am guessing) It wouldn't hurt. At least that was the excuse I used

The 9th will probably be better. To be sure, I'll fish them both and let you know so your friends can plan right next year!

Hey Bendman, not sure if you really expect anyone to have a crystal ball but....weather is the predominant factor. August is usually the best bet for both tuna and weather (right along with September). The calm weather pattern we've had for the last week is over with; it's starting to blow NW (along with the heating up of the valley). This is shaping up to be the best sport tuna season in a long time. As long as the weather is good, mid August will probably be great tuna fishing (you can quote me on that). A NW blow this time of year usually doesn't last too long. It will cool off the inside water and make for even better temp breaks. When this blow is over, and it settles down for a day or two, it's gonna bust wide open; mark my words.

p.s. lots more days like this coming this year:

Mark it totally correct This does look like it's shaping up to be one of the best sport fishing years in a long time.

This August your chances look real good.

GO FOR IT!!

I too would have to agree with Mark and Kujo. This is a very unusual year for tuna, generally the tuna fishing is just NOW starting up in most years.

This blow that we're having now should really improve things. Keep watch on the site for when people are posting SST's and you'll see much better and sharper temp breaks appearing.

In a 'normal' year the tuna fishing usually lasts clear into late September. As early as they showed themselves this year, who knows? October? December?
