Default 2001 Honda 9HP 4 stroke water pump?

Mine stopped shooting water out on the way back to the marina. Last time it did that, it cost $100 to fix. No big deal, but it is prime time fishing and crabbing. How hard is it to get to the darn thing and clean it up? Thanks

Check the pee-hole first, could have a bit of debris in there. Did it heat up and start running poorly? Did it seem to be hot?

I just got back, I will check the pee hole. It did not run hot or poorly. I shut it off when I saw that it was not peeing.

It was just a little stoped up. All fine now. But still, how hard is it to service/replace the water pump?

I was a mechanic in the Army for 20+ years. But remember I did do a post on how to check the oil on my 90HP 2 stroke motor. I don't work on two strokers.

Dave G, it's simple...I did it on my 2003 8hp Honda not long ago....if you go read my experience you'll find it as easy as unscrewing 5 bolts and some shift linkage...pulling down the shaft/lower unit....removing the black plastic pump housing on top of the lower unit... replacing an O-ring, gasket,impeller...then putting it all back and making sure the water tube is connected when you push the shaft back up into the power head.

Easy as Pizza pie !
