Garibaldi Tuna
Made a run SW out of Garibaldi, 40 miles and off Cape Lookout. Saturday was a pond all day long, CrazyFish with us on this trip. We could not believe the weather....flat and hot all day long. Fishing was a little slow for us unlike last week, were they hit everything. This week, tuna did not touch the top water lures...but we slaughtered them on Zuckers Zucchini on a Yozuri diver. Also caught 1 blue shark on a fishtrap, 1 seagull on a white and pink Zuckers. Ken caught 3 coho on a diver and Zuckers broom combo the following day trolling at 7knots.. I was able to catch a coho on a Yozuri diving plug trolling 7 knots. Just goes to show you that there are no steadfast, carved in stone rules on what will trigger fish to bite.
I am looking for a Bonar 1801 half tote for anyone that has a contact.

Re: Garibaldi Tuna
Hey Bill,
What was your take on tuna and effort? I am currious how big are those Yozuri divers and where did you get them?

Re: Garibaldi Tuna
They have those K90 divers out of the south beach fuel dock for like 25 bucks, which is about 20 less than anywhere else I have seen them.

Re: Garibaldi Tuna
Has anyone ever tried a 20' jet planer diver? I suppose you need something that will trip so the fish comes up and not help to pull it's head down.

Re: Garibaldi Tuna
I just got 2 at Garibaldi Marina for $23.99 each. After Saturday I am thinking that they are a must have.
Thanks Bill for one of the most memorable ocean trips I've ever had, I still can't believe how calm and warm it was out there. I think that the biggest swell we saw was about 6" and no wind all day. Oh ya, we also got a Coho on Sat. with a diver and Zuker while trolling at 7 knots. I guess those pesky native Coho will hit anything.

Re: Garibaldi Tuna
I've used these divers on 2 handlines for the past several years very successfully. I tend to run them just inside of the prop wash, and often pull doubles on them.

Re: Garibaldi Tuna
Too bad Fisherman's Marine doesn't carry real gear. I will add that the Delta park store had a HUGE box of clones and zukers. They weren't even put out just set on the shelf in the packing box.

Re: Garibaldi Tuna
I run the 5 5/8 inch in blue mackerel and the dorado. These are available at Englunds and Fishermans Marine. They come standard with treble hooks which I would change to singles.

Re: Garibaldi Tuna
Folks to to set the record staight...DriftR AKA Ozzie put me on to the divers last time we went out. I bought one played around alittle with it, without much interest. It wasn't until this year that they really shone and this past week the only producers for the "Bite Me" team. I should also mention that these were rigged on 50ft tuna cord....deadly on albis and coho alike. So kudos to Ozzie for the tip
I've also been using a diving plug that you can troll at any speed made by Yozuri...even had salmon hit at 7 knots. Hydro magnums at this site http://www.yo-zuri.com/store.html?p=50 Yes and the divers are now available at Garibaldi Marina....see Jeff. Have fun.
