Default Humpback whale sightings out of Depoe Bay ...

One of the Whale watching Zodiacs came told me on Thursday evening (when I
arrived in Depoe Bay for my pre-TUNA! checks) that he had been seeing humpback
whales all day!! He was telling me how much more fun they were to watch than
those stinkey little (!) gray whales and told of huge tales shots and humpbacks
breaching!

Well, I'm here to tell you, those are some impressive animals!! On our run out
for TUNA! on Friday (in less than optimal conditions) my Bro' and I saw one
breach a couple of times, lift his tail high in the air and then slide beneath the
surface ... not to be seen by us again! Wowzers! Just toooo cool!

Yep, I have whitnessed the humpbacks as well and it is truely a sight to behold. Friend and I were out at the rockpile 2 years ago, and several humpbacks came along and gave a nice show.

They're beautiful animals.

Ugly Green and I were watching them breach out by the 61 spot Saturday before last. They were breaching etc... I agree, more fun than Grays.

summer before last Wak'm and RJ are out at the Rockpile when RJ hears Wak yellin Holy!****look! and right behind us there's a wirlpool and then several hundred herring come blowing out of the water followed by a Humpback driving the bait ball skyward ,it came out just past it's eyes with it's mouth wide open and closed it right in front of us,I can't even imagine how many hundreds of gallons of water and herring we watched vanish in that brief moment but it was a site I'll never forget.RJ
