Full on irritated...
I'm ticked....
I lock up the church every night before bed, and tonight was no different. Until i headed home.I was leaving the neighborhood and just before i got out of the little area i passed a medium size group of kids. and right as i go by POW, something lightly tags the right front corner of MY GIRLFRIENDS RIG. its nothing loud and i think egg right. its halloween, kids will be kids, whatever. I'll just rinse it off when i get home.
Get home and I see no egg residue but the headlight lense is shattered out
ARRRGGGGHHHHH.
Thats a great way to spend a hundred bucks with fall salmon sitting on our doorsteps.

Re: Full on irritated...
That is sad, of the youth of today. No respect for others, as they become adults with no respect. Scary future.
What was it Rock or, Pellet gun?.
I know your feelings. Been there done that...
But I was lucky, to have seen Youth body language, Then the Large Rock inbound to my Windshield. With No traffic, helped dodge Rock Whew. Locked up the Brakes. They Ran!!. ( Sad part, I was armed as with my buddy Riding Shot gun!). Elk season . We were lucky it did not connect with windows, would have been medical Evac. Oh yea, Our group 4 elk down next day, With sore body's packing .
Sad to say this, But each time there is a goup of kids/youths. I watch Them really close now For guns, Rocks Etc. People that had this happen, know what I mean.

Re: Full on irritated...
Jordan,
Odds are extremely high that you are not the first victim of these juveniles. You should report the vandalism to the police. Give them the exact location, time, number of kids, as good of a description as you can. It can only help the neighborhood in the long run.
Best wishes and I'm glad no one was injured.
GW

Re: Full on irritated...
Better get them into the youth group there at the church. Send a collection plate around to pay for the headlamp.
Sorry that happened to you.

Re: Full on irritated...
I thought about it as soon as i got home, realized i didnt' arm the alarm so decided to go back (Different route this time). As I was walking out a beaverton cop cruised by and i flagged him down. He said he hadnt heard any other reports but that he would put out notice or whatever it may be. I declined filing the police report guaging the kids were young but not that young, I dont see any reason for aanything but a slap on the wrist, because maybe thats enough. I dont want to see some young guys life totally screwed up because of on mistake.
I'm sure in washington county if i ws to participate IF someone was arrested it woud be considered something like felony assault or something.
Granted if there was other damage I say do whatever with em

Re: Full on irritated...
Can one assault a vehicle?
Over on this side of the river a few friends have had problems with break in damage to cars. Luckily, right place right time, a couple of the people were caught. I think it was a felony if they caused over $500 in damage or something like that. I know at least one felony conviction stuck, but he wasn't an innocent kid out causing a little trouble. Maybe just fill up a super soaker with vinegar and hose them kids down next time you see em.

Re: Full on irritated...
Sorry this happened to you. Never a good time for this, but double stinky that its fall Chinook season.
As a side note - I'd place the blame for the children's behavior squarely on the shoulders of the parents. There's been a shade of youth bashing here lately (just a little) so I thought I'd throw that one out.

Rock tossed from overpass narrowly misses driver hits windshield 10/23;
This is a press release courtesy of the Oregon State Police
The Oregon State Police (OSP) is asking for the public's help in developing information surrounding how a rock the size of a softball may have been thrown off or dropped off the Park Place overpass on Interstate 205 and into the windshield of car.
The rock split into two pieces, one of which narrowly missed the driver who received cuts on her forearms.
On October 23, 2008 at approximately 3:15 p.m. Julie Ide, age 23, from Milwaukie, was driving a Hyundai Elantra northbound on Interstate 205 between Oregon City and Gladstone when a large rock came crashing through her windshield at the Park Place overpass.
The rock apparently split in half on impact and half of it narrowly missed the driver's head before landing in the back seat. The other half of the rock landed on the dashboard.
IDE received minor cuts but was not transported for treatment.
"You can imagine how upsetting this was for my daughter," said David Ide, the driver's father. "I am not exaggerating when I say she could have been killed or seriously injured."
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call OSP Trooper Aaron Jackson at (503) 731-3020 ext. 401.

I hate to say this, but that type of attitude is part of the problem... not the solution.

Thank you. I agree.

My cousin had a rock hit his car, same overpass, two weeks ago, the police think it was the same people. He was lucky it wasnt as big but it cracked his windshield causing hundreds of dollars in damage. And going 60 mph its amazing it didnt go through anyways. Windshields are designed to deflect from in front of the car, not above it.
