We launched the boat at 5:30 with Smily, and FM-2 along as crew. We had 4 traps, Salmon gear, and Tuna Gear onboard. Loaded down for a triple-header.
Flat bar - nice.

Ocean was flat as a lake with zero fog. Dropped the traps to the north side.
Ran out to 180' deep and began trolling herring at 8, 20 and 40 pulls. Took longer than expected to get the first fish - Nate, Nate, clipped, too small, too small, Nate, crackered, Nate, Double, Nate, crackered, Chinook, Nate, Nate, ...
The chinook came on a down rigger at 80'. Most fish were around the 220'.
At noon we had the general consensus to run for Tuna. So we ran West 12 miles and put in the gear, and trolled at 7 mph West. Had one strike at 16 miles and went out to 20 miles with no tuna in the boat. Headed back in at full throtle, 41 mph. The ocean was so smooth! We were stopped by State Troopers at 5 miles out for a fish check.
We trolled again for Salmon from 240' to 150' with a few more nates, drive-bys, and one chinook.
Ended the day with 1 coho, 2 chinook, and 8 crab.
Beautiful day on the water, with a couple of great guys, and good food. Smily does fried chicken right.
Back at port we notice a commercial boat selling tuna for $.90 /lb, and we each buy one.
Cheerio'
