Anyone else here that can smell when you are in the albacore? On a calm day, there is a definite odor when feeding tuna are in the area. Anyone else ever notice this? My guess is that is the oils released from the butchered prey.

Re: Smell the fish
No (other than my hands for a week)- but I'd sure like to! Haven't had the experiance of finding them on top working the bait. :depressed:
This is the year though! The salmon rods with the fishtraps are "standing by"!

Hey Kurt, did you get your boat running or is there another Olympic that is a dead ringer for yours fishing out of Depoe? Saw it fishing the same area as the Blitz and Capt Kujo yesterday on the tuna.
ps: this is Bob up on Bainbridge aka Chaps

Yep...I definitely can. That is how most of the pelagic birds find fish. When my buddy guides pelagic sea bird trips, they bring cans of tuna and cat food to help draw the birds in!

i fished with a skipper in mexico, who said that he could smell the bait school's. they would also make a slick. he thought it was from the fish waste.
