Default Do you remodeler/builders use Home Depot

Not sure if this is approp but I have seen comments somewhere on this forum that addresses this. If any of you have opinions, would you IM me or email me with your reasons why "yea" or "nay"? Hubby swears their stuff is the same as the other specialty stores...I say it isn't, that its inferior stuff. Neither of us really have iron-clad reasons for feeling the way we do. Thanks in advance to anyone who responds.

You are right about there inventory being different than other retailers.
I'm sure it's not 100% but it is significant.
Example 1) I was looking for a new power miter saw, chop saw -slide saw.
As I had a Milwaukee and was happy with that I wanted another Milwaukee.
I looked several places at the Milwaukee's and found that they all had the same saw but some had 2 blades, some had 1 cheap blade some had built in clamps some didn't. I asked a friend in the know and he said that places like HD pick a price slot and tell the manufacture to supply something compatible with the other brands in that price range. I bought the saw at HD but that particular mix of saw, blade and accessories was only available through HD.
Another happened last week. I had a customer wanting a new bath sink and faucet. They described what they wanted and I went looking for it.
I found 2 Delta faucets and 2 American Standard on the internet catalog at each manufacturer. I Emailed those links to the customer and they chose one of the American Standard. I called the local wholesaler and gave them the item number for a price. She told me that that unit was only available at HD. As I have been doing this for over 35 years and swear buy American Standard and some others I new it wasn't a low end model because they don't make junk. I didn't push it but figured that HD being as big as they are went to American Standard and said we want this and we want it exclusively. I suppose if you buy all the make of that model you can price it how ever yo want.
Last but not least is Wallmart. I used to buy a work boot made by a Herman Survivor. I had found another brand that I liked but still looked at them when I saw them. Then they disappeared and when I asked I was either told that they went out of business or that they were not available anymore. A few years ago I went to Walmart for the first time. I was walking around looking at there stuff and low and behold there are the Herman Survivors. There were 10 or 12 styles. I asked a clerk and was told they have the exclusive rights to buying all the shoes and boots that company (and some others) can produce.
I don't mean this to belittle the retailers or suppliers at all. This is what makes it work, competition. I would have bought the faucet from HD if I could have found someone to locate one for me. Just be assured that quality products and services outlast everything except the pain of buying just because it's cheaper.

I only use them when time constraints make me.....if you buy a plumbing fixture, such as a faucet or toilet, make sure it has not been opened. Often parts are missing.

But on the upside, they have a lot of stuff, and their prices can almost compete with the contractor supplies.
