Default Saddle Mt Unit

Hello All,

This is my first year hunting here, I got Saddle Mt Unit second season. I was wondering if anyone else here was hunting that area and wouldn't mind possibly, maybe me riding along to do some scouting in the next few weekends. I have to admit I bought a unit map and all the places I tried were just dead ends.

My Dad is flying up to hunt with me and I don't mind putting in the hours tracking around , but DANG I have to at least find a place where we can even have a chance to seriously glass and look.

Im not trying to poach anyone spot! really Im not! So any info or a ride along would be AWESOME!!!

Follow the crowds and I would ask to borrow No Lucks rifle set up, you could have your elk down 1000yds away before anyone else got close to em.

I have spent a number of years archery hunting the Saddle Mtn and still don't feel like I understand the unit very well.

Watch out for guys from Knapa they are all over the place and think they own that Mt.
I have seen and heard of some terrible tactics hunting from guys who were proud to say they were from Knapa.

I've not hunted it for 2 years now after like 20 or so. My brother still goes there and did say they now close the gates when they didnt used to, which sucks, obviously for scouting. Second season used to be "less crowded" but still lotsa company. We have done pretty well over the years without hiking in, however, again you need to be able to scout scout scout when you can. Either side of hwy 202 from about mp, crap I think it was 16 or 17 east. Elk Mnt Mainline. Put your time in and be there early sat morning, just like most places.
