Default Pacific Bounty

Popeye got me off my tail and I finally resized and renamed and fought the upload feature to show you some 4th of July pictures.

While most of you were chasing tuna out of Depoe myself and Bruce were enjoying the rest of the pacifics bounty.

Nice Salmon

If you don't mind me asking, how far offshore were you guys and how deep were you trolling. I plan on hitting Newport Friday morning and do a little salmon fishing before the wind starts up. Is the water temp still running about 52 in 150 feet of water?

Congrats on a good day. Water looked very calm as well.

Thanks AC.

We were out at the north end of the rockpile. It's about 14 miles out. Not a bad run in a sled with the right ocean. I've done it many times in mine.

I can set you up with the numbers to the sweet spot if you think you might try it.

Looks like 4 and 4 from the NW is predicted. If it lays down over night and you departed at 0500 you could possibly fish until 1000 and still have a comfortable ride in.

Fishing an actual 4 and 4 is not beyond my comfort level in my sled. However, the predictions have been far from correct recently.

Your welcome to call or stop by and bend my ear any time Tacklebuster.

I work grave so after five on weeknights. I also return calls if messages are left.

Thanks for the reply and help Fishplay. I would like to share a barley pop or two and bend your ear a little. I am still green to this salt water skippering and need all the help I can get. If you go wsw to get to the north end of the pile, that means you will need to buck the nw winds on the way back in making it a slow ride correct? I would love the numbers and plan on making a run on Friday morning. What do you think about the predicted 6 second interval?

I'll do it Kurt.

TB,
Sorry I didn't read this until 0430 Friday morning. You should have called me last night.

Hope it's a productive day. You should have a good ride in provided you don't stay too late.

Damn I'm at work and you should be about ready to leave port.

We'll talk soon.
