Default Buffalo horns

Hey Ifish hunters,
I just bagged a buffalo and am asking for help getting the horn caps off. I've been told to rot them off, use beetles, and just work under them until they are off. Anybody ever done it themselves?
Thanks in advance,
HH

I'm not totally sure about buffalo but if they're anything like antelope horns, you can boil the head and the horns will come off.

letting them rot off is very smelly and I wouldn't recomend this way best way I found was to cut off about a 1 1/2 away from base of the horn and boil them have one guy pull with channel locks on the base and another pull with a shop towel wraped around the top of the horn. Good luck with it.

Crow reservation S of Hardin, MT. It was fast and furious since we had to beat the snow last week. The herd we came to was spooky and didn't let us get too close. My bull is almost 18" and very symmetrical. Green scores Safari club by a couple inches. We bought 2 hunts on Ebay last fall ($1995, I couldn't pass it up!) and they were good until this Nov. The Crow Guide that took us up doesn't expect the next tribal govt. to let non-members up there but they do have more bison than the range should be holding so you never know.
