Default Dill...Dry vs. Fresh

I didn't have time a month ago to do any pickling so I'm trying to now. I have pickles still so I will just be doing some garlic and maybe some asparagus.

My problem is that I can't find any fresh dill so I need to try the dill seed. What is the ratio of dill seed per jar? 1tsp per pint, or quart?

Thanks,

Mark

I don't believe it is a critical as to how much you use. At least 1 tsp per pint and probably two tsp per quart. If you want a stronger dill flavor double the amount. It shouldn't hurt. In this case more could be better.

Good Luck

I did a little research and found that the recommended ratio is 1 to 1 1/2 tbsp per pint.

Anyone ever upset with the flavor of the dill from seeds vs. dill heads? The heads are the seed heads themselves (lots of seeds) so I would think that it would be that different.
