SST Anomaly Chart
Putting this up here so people can reference it nearly anytime easily. This my friendly Salty Dogs is why we're enjoying such great early Tuna this year. This page is updated automatically each day, so no real need to re-link it. Just come back to this thread to get the current one for the day.

Done. I always wonder what happens to the carnage I bilge over the side ... It makes the graph red!

Re: SST Anomaly Chart
In the 60's and 70's you could pin this to your wall and spend days with your buddies staring at it.
In the 00's we pin it to the top of the web page and spend days with our buddies staring at it.

That's the problem with technology Mel. In the old days, when cutting and pasting, you could eat the paste....

Johnboy, actually I think that red is the glow off my face when we came through the hole yesterday with only two bullets in the box

Re: SST Anomaly Chart
Keep in mind this isn't the actual SST, but is the Anomaly chart. In other words, this is how much different the SST is from the 'norm'.
The actual link is:
Naval Research Laboratory

Re: SST Anomaly Chart
S J- Thanks for the link. Another cool item to keep track of. (At least this year - don't even want to think about a year with a big purple spot parked offshore!)

Re: SST Anomaly Chart
Thanks Sea Jypzee and Pilar for getting this loaded and "stuck" to the top. I personally appreciate it!

Re: SST Anomaly Chart
Okay, I gotta be the guy that asks.... What is SST? I am guessing the chart is showing thermal anomalies from some norm?
Would some one care to give a "101" on interpeting the data? Also, any links to SST archieves, so we could compare to different time s of year and years past?
Thanks!!

Re: SST Anomaly Chart
Guys and gals.... You know that an SST anomaly is just that. Anomaly. Look it up in the dictionary. It is like catching a bluefin in 48 degree water. The better chart to post would be:
http://www7300.nrlssc.navy.mil/altim...ay/pwc_sst.gif
If salmonator had used the SST temp chart instead of the anomaly, he might have had more current information to use to go for longfin.
It would have been based on realtime instead of a prediction or trend based on historical data that the ocean water temperatures are out of whack.

Re: SST Anomaly Chart
Sensei, you are right. I would prefer to see the actual sea surface temperature rather than the change. Can we change it to the actual temp? The anomaly looks like I can swim in the water at Newport or even take a bath!
