Default 7/15 Depoe Tuna Report

Went with Marty today, got 17 tuna just short of the "Pilar 61" spot. We bailed out a little early to chase salmon on the inside. One keeper coho & lost a slug. WP was with us, he also got 17. Maybe he can post the specific numbers. There was also a nice twin outboard Grady...not sure who it was.

Started out with a little SW chop, but it really flattened out as the day went on. There is 60- 61 degree water all the way in to about 2 miles off the beach. It's clear green to about 20 miles out, then it gets blue. No real sharp edges, just a few subtle rips, kelp patties, logs.

Ocean was glassy slick with a small (~ 4 ft) westerly swell at 5:30 pm.

I was out there amongst you guys. 8 or 9 hooked and two in the boat    . I was putting the stink BACK on the fish Released 3 or 4 coho at the end of the day. I don't like the fact that I'm paying so much more for my Albacore than you guys are

Just got home. We were trolling from 2 miles SE of the 61 spot to 3 miles NW. the slightly north seemed to be producing better. We lost more fish today than I can ever remember doing before.??? No Salmon for us as we "found" the fish late. We will be going out again in the A.M. Nice to talk with Salmonator again and to fish with Marty and Mark. Those guys are great to run and fish with. Conscientious, helpful, and communicative. I wish I was as good as they are. Anyone going in the A.M.? I am trying to get out at 0500. My burn is hurting and the ocean is fine! Lets go fishin'!

Hey Dave, you are too kind. We also enjoy having you out there to yack & tack with. That was a nice bunch of fish you guys had at the cleaning station! I'll be staying in the valley for a while, but Marty (that fanatic) is still down there & will be out again tomorrow.

Good luck!

p.s. / edit: we had a number of short biters today. Two times, after a miss, we put the (missed) jig in freespool & got hooked up.
