Catching just Chinook

One of my buddies down in Bandon says that a 5" watermelon apex gets through the coho and targets the chinook. Nothing will keep them off completely though.

On down-rigger,, at 30 to 40, feet,,
Get a few Silvers,,but,,have good sucess

I am alreay stocked up on the Salmon in the freezer and I am trying to be more selective on the fish I tag. I tried to just target chinook yesturday fishing 60-100 ft. on the downrigger. I still caught coho no matter what I did. I was fishing cuttbait, 6" spoon, and hoochies. I couldn't keep the coho off. Any suggestions? I am fishing out of Newport.

Fish deeper?? When I fish on the Chinook only fishery out of Depoe Bay
I usually fish in 40-50 fathoms of water. I run my cannon balls down as close
to the bottom as I can (35-45 fathoms). Not too many silvers at that depth.
