Great looking bull. What's the story? I can't wait to get over to Idaho and do some whitetail hunting. My wifes uncle use to be a guide, but I haven't got my lazy butt over there to hunt. Thanks for sharing the pics; now we need the story.

Ok here we go, I headed to idaho on thursday afternoon. Met up with the brother in law to get supplies and we were off. It was dark heading over the hill we come around a corner and standing in the road is a honest to god 50 inch bull moose. He runs down the road I try to get a pic but I didn't want him to hook the new pickup. Season started friday morning it is freezing cold no elk we are kinda puzzled as to where they went. We get almost to the road and one of the guys wife says theres a bull standing on the road looking at us. It was onl a spike so no was going to shoot him anyway. Same thing in the afternoon, day 2 no elk no bugles nadda. Went on a long walk came out at dark nothing. Day three We set up on a closed road near a crossing nothing comes out and we nearly foze to death. One guy get close to a big bull just no shot through alders. So things are looking up. We decide to hunt an area that is over looked by most. On our way to the area 2 spikes run across the road still no shots fired. We hunt through the area elk sign every where ah ha we found them and things are starting to look a lot better. We have a hour left before dark so we thought about doing some glassing into some clear cuts. I spot a nice bull moose and then a cow and calf appear. We check them out through the spotting scope. I decided to bugle and see what would answer I get 3 different bulls to answer me a couple times. So we continue glassing until it is almost dark. I look over to the far clear cut which is 1100 yards out comes a bull elk he has big body just couldn't quite make out the antlers. Finally we have one spotted. We make a plan to sit across the canyon from the clearing which is about 500 yards well he didn't show in the morning but he bugled from the same ridge we saw him go into the timber on. A few bulls are bugling in the morning but no elk show almost got ran over in the brush by some cow elk. We walk out at noon and decide to drive up and look into a brush field. I spotted a sow and 2 cubs asleep on the hillside. We took pictures and watched the cubs wrestle for a while, it was pretty fun watching them. This is day 4 by the way so change the game plan we are going into the timber after the bull so we send my brother in laws dad and friend to the spot across the canyon to watch the openings. My brother in law and I sneak down into the timber with the wind finally right for once. We get to where he went into the timber the night before right on the edge of big timber and the clear cut. We bugle twice and just listen all of a sudden snap snap and the I hear antlers scraping the alders. I am like finally here he comes. The bull would walk a ways then sniff the air at about 100 yards he bugles real soft. He getting closer i still can't see him he is close still can't my brother in law says bull but he can only see head and feet. The bull peels to the right to in the clearing I had a 1 foot hole to shoot through bang 40 yard shot. I thought I shot a big five but I will take six. After I shot a monster bull came out in another clearing across from the other guys he was a big non typical they figured he would go 370. We chainsaw winched him out tuesday morning and we headed home. The moose picture is from tuesday morning on the way out. Around the corner from the moose a 330 bull jumps the road in front of us hit the brakes and guns come out of course I just have to watch. The old bull was a little faster than the guys but oh well. All in all it was a good way to start off hunting season. I have a elk tag here in oregon and a muzzy deer tag so hopefully the streak continues. Sorry it is so long

I have a very good friend in Hermiston who hunts Idaho every year.

He took a 51" Shiras last year.

Do all you guys from Hermi-town go to Idaho?

Nice bulls, good job.
