Pair beat Tigard man who placed Craigslist ad

06:49 AM PDT on Thursday, October 16, 2008

By Associated Press

TIGARD, Ore. (AP) -- Investigators say a Tigard man was beaten and robbed by a man and a woman who responded to his Craigslist ad.
Tigard police spokesman Jim Wolf says the male visitor entered the man's home Tuesday night and pulled out a pistol.
The man then beat the victim, who was later bound with duct tape and plastic ties.
The pair stole the man's truck, but it was later found abandoned.
The victim was treated for his injuries at a hospital and released.

why do those couple visit the contractor's home, instead of contractor visiting the job site?

Where does it say Contractor ... my take is someone put an ad looking for a little something and got more than they bargained for ...

The other thing that this article failed to mention... but I heard this morning on the news...

The people showed up at 10PM. If you are meeting strangers at 10PM... you deserve what you get.

maybe it was somebody posing as a contractor going to a potential clients house to rob them? seems more likely.

I'd imagine they can track him down since they must have used email or a phone to set up the meeting. (unless he used a pay phone, I suppose)

It is good to be on the cautious side and be able to learn the experience for this unfortunate event. However, blaming the victim and adding insult to the injury is not the right thing or nice thing to do. We don't know the circumstances that lead to the 10pm meeting.
