Default Timber's Blacktail Buck!

Ifisher Timber emailed me this pic of his '08 buck and said I could post it for him. Heck of a buck! Don't see many like that anymore. Congrats Tim!

Hopefully Timber will tell the story....

Not a lot for a story as this buck was in the first rock bluff that I glassed. First thing opening morning I planned on glassing the few openings and a couple of rock bluffs that you can see into in a canyon of 25 foot tall reprod. As we all know here on the north coast it was really wailing with wind near 40 mph. I got down into the canyon and got protected from the wind but it was raining so hard you had trouble seeing at times. Ilooked at the first bluff without glasses and didn't see anything so I put the ziesses up and low and behold guess who"s looking at me. The buck was quartered at me so I placed the cross hairs on the point of his left shoulder and touched the trigger. At the shot I was knocked off of him but heard the whack and expected to see him tumbleing down the hill but as I got him in the scope he was on his feet going into the reprod. My wife said he was flopping down the hill when she saw him. I felt real good about the shot as the crosshairs were perfect when the gun went off. I was surprised he got up as he was the first animal to get up that I had shot with this rifle. I'm shooting a 7mm RUM with 154gr hornaday interbonds at 3486 fps and the buck was 332 yds. I made it over to where he was standing with help from my wife walking me in via. communication and found where he was standing when I shot. I got on his tracks and he only made it about 50 feet. I would have took the camera with me but it would have got ruined in the rain so the picture was taken in the afternoon after a change of clothes and a break in the weather. It took two trips and five hours to get him worked up and to the road.

What is the spread... 24-25" I had saw some good ones in the area before and you have to be willing to shoot them where they're at then worry about getting them out. I think he will go somewhere around 19" is all. This buck if I had to guess would be about 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 years old. and had some good genes. I would have liked to have saw him in about two years. That means his daddy might still be alive!
