Default WHITE CHINOOK FROM PC

I caught this 28 pounder off of PC on a whole herring. While cleaning noticed the meat was NOT orange or any shade there of. It was WHITE. My 1st White Salmon (1st I ever seen).
After cooking it, it looks like halibut, white. So to taste like Salmon for me, I have to eat with my eyes closed

Might be a Tule River fish. I have heard of white kings up in the Fraizer (BC). BTW, congrats on the piggy.

We caught one on my boat last summer out of Garibaldi that was marbled with white meat. I smoked it and it was the best smoked salmon I have had.

If it is a tule you will know it. A white tule will not taste as good. Tules caught in the ocean are usually orange like any other fish. My guess is you caught one of those white BC fish.

Good job and nice feesh

Tules in the ocean will have orange meat. In my opinion you bagged yourself a true white nook. They are prized for quality table fare in BC. Hope to hook up with you guys on a tuna run pretty soon.

While cleaning tuna at Depoe Bay last week, a white meated chinook was cleaned...about 35lbs. You see them every so often.

From the photo, that is not a tule. Head is too small for the rest ofits body and the adipose lacks the twice-as-big-as-it-should-be look.

Must be one of our confused northern neighbors. Welcome to Ory-gone!

Tasty!

I agree with Crabbait and the rest as far as it being a northern neighbor. Not a tule for sure.
