Default Poachers get a little justice

Poachers get there justice...

http://http://www.katu.com/news/30924359.html

CATHLAMET, Wash. – The man considered the ringleader of a group of poachers who called themselves the "Kill 'Em All Boys" was sentenced to a year and a month in prison Monday for illegally killing wildlife.
Mick Gordon, pictured below, pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree animal cruelty, hunting black bear, cougar, bobcat and lynx with dogs, second-degree criminal trespass and third-degree malicious mischief.
Washington Fish and Wildlife officers said the group used a device they called "the permission slip," which is a metal bar used to break locks blocking access to prime poaching territory on timber company lands. They even had a videotape made of the bar in use because they wanted to sell the contraption on eBay.
Undercover officers infiltrated the group as part of the investigation. Later wildlife officers seized trophy heads and guns from Gordon's garage.
Gordon, a registered nurse, was also accused of torturing one of his hunting dogs with a shock collar as well as not giving it care for porcupine wounds; the dog eventually died.
Prosecutors on Monday asked for an exceptionally long sentence, saying Gordon had "run amok."
"I'm deeply sorry for what I've done," Gordon told the judge. "It'll never happen again"
Judge Michael J. Sullivan called Gordon an aberration.
"When I look at you and what you've done here, which seems to be a highly organized crime spree, I just don't know how to put those two together," the judge said.
The sentence was much stiffer than normal. In other recent animal cruelty cases, defendants received sentences of about 3.2 months on average.
Washington state officials have also suspended Gordon's nursing license.
According to state health department documents, Gordon told an undercover agent he put a shock collar on a child's neck, turned it to its highest setting and shocked the child. He also told the agent he despised his bed-ridden, elderly patients.

That sentence needs to be followed by a lot of time in the mental ward.

"I'm deeply sorry," he says. Sure you are, pal. You're about as sorry as I would be after kicking your ass. His sentence was way too light.

Not fit for society. Not before, not now, and not in a year.

These three or four guys set back hunters and sportmen everywhere in our efforts for conservation and recognition by the general public.
I agree - sentence way too light for the amount of activity and resources wasted by these guys - the fact they planned it, perfected certain tools and techniques to accomplish it - ought to up the penalty dramaticly, just like if you use a gun to commit a crime, you get extra time - other two rants I have on this:
1) No way these guys did this and their family's and friends didn't know - they had pictures and trophy's, obviously they are braggarts, so the whole culture they are from (fathers/sons/friends) are of same ilk - so shame on all of them.
2) When they announced this news story on the channel I watched, they cautioned viewers to the "disturbing nature" of the pictures - then they showed a variety of "trophy" pictures of these guys with elk mounts, holding up a bobcat (granted, taken illegal) - - - so if society has changed to the point that these sort of pictures are "disturbing" to viewers, just think of how this story is going to stir up the anti-hunting fervor.

I agree, sentence was way to light. I hope they suspended his hunting and fishing privileges for good and confiscated all of his hunting and fishing
equipment.

What that snippet doesn't cover is what he did to his hunting dog. For those so interested it's on the `net, but I refuse to link to it cuz kids shouldn't be subjected to what this guy did. Suffice it to say that what he did to the dog should happen to him.

In additional all that has been stated here, I have some serious concern that because of his profession as a nurse, & the statement that he despised his bedridden parents, lets just pray that we was not the caretaker for these folks and they did not suffer a similar fate, nor any of the patients he was party to their care.

I just have a hard time understanding how the poaching acts & nursing profession have any connection.
This deeply troubles me- No question-- he must be also...............

EXACTLY!!! Had no one known about his little "group," he'd still be out there doing what he was doing without any remorse whatsoever!

Throw the book at 'em!

You can only pray he learns something before becoming a father and mistreating his baby/child. I think the consequence here is only positive at best.
