Default Depoe bay Bluefin today.

One of the Salty Dog boats out of Depoe Bay caught a peanut (12-15 lb) bluefin mixed with the albacore. Forgot who caught it (sorry), but Pilar, GRB, Keta, and a buncha others saw and sampled the fish.

Must be a good omen this early, Eh?

Hey UG. The charter boat Kadaho has some pic's of a couple yellowtail on the tradewinds dock he caught during one of those El 'Nino years 6 or 7 years ago.

I don't know how common bluefin are here, but yellowtail aren't.

Email me if you come accross a post by an ifisher that wants to go bottom fishing next weekend. I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Thanks,

Dan

It was definetly a schooler bluefin, I tasted it to be extra sure  Yep definetely bluefin

Funny thing is Brad and I were discussing the fact that it is very common for schooler bluefin to be part of an albacore catch down south, and then, voillah (sp?)

In the post about tuna at 8.4 miles Steve mentioned that the albies had herring in their tummies. Wouldn't it be cool to have a bait well with live bait to throw on these tuna, herring or anchovies should work, as long as they swim.

NEEDED: bait provider with net pens near Depot Bay.

I think it was "Fish When I Can" that got the bluefin.

One of us on the boat brought in the bluefin (you are right Keta). We actually didn't notice it until we started to clean it. Not really sure when it was put into the boat. We did hook another fish that was BIG, but it was the first fish and during the "cluster" of the first fish, outrigger release didn't trip-- couldn't get rod out of holder etc., it broke the line.

Biggest albacore 33 lbs
