Hunt the timber around clearcuts. When you find tracks, the deer will be somewhere around the area.

Be quiet and move slower than slow. Don't stay home when the weather is bad.

DATS the reason they should not give out doe tags up there. Not your fault but you got good advice from Dogzilla

Watch for the nastiest forcast and get out their when the rain is blowing sideways.

My other reccomendation is to glass, glass and glass somemore. It's amazing how many more animals I see today that I've taken the time to stop and pick apart a hillside with at least a decent set of binos. Slow down

Just keep at it and don't let a few days discourage you.

I hunt Saddle MT basicly every year and I have to say this year has been a little slow. I did see tracks but no deer. A bear on the other hand though. Also it seems there is a huge increase on the ATV riders out there.

P.S Yesterday I talked to a few hunters and they also said it was very slow for them so far aswell. So we are not the only ones. It should pick up within the next couple of weeks. good luck

Check this thread out: I asked some how to questions myself! There a lot of good info and helped me to bag my Saddle Mt. unit buck this weekend!

A lot of it is just being lucky however being in an area that has good sign will increase your odds. If your not seeing good sign then keep moving. Pay attention to the transiton areas between the cuts and the tall timber. These middle zones seem to be where a lot of the rubs are. Don't be afraid to stop and look around. Sometimes they are right in front of you if you look.

I hunted that unit for years, for deer look at the SW corner West of Hwy 53.

If you want big bucks, then hunt up around Humbug mountain. Or go out to Jewell and hunt the tidewater summit area. Not sure if you can still hunt the Tillamook head area, seen my biggest blacktail bucks ever in that area.
