Pilar and the Tuna gangsta's! (pic's)
Special thanks to our district salmon biologist Bob Buckman for taking these pic’s per my request.
Come on guy, I know it’s good sushi, but save some for the freezer!
He,he, He didn't see that one!
You sure this stuff doesn't have domoic acid?
You ever tried smoking that stuff before?
Wow, good stuff Cheech. Heavy duty!
We were smoking dog xxxx?
No South Paw, it was sensimilla tuna! Not Lab!
You followed that tuna around for three days in your boat?
Wow, that was some heavy duty xxxx!
Team work out in the salt and it doesn't stop there!
Hope you guys appreciate my warped sense of humor but the pic's brought it on.
Dan

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helv">Good question! Look at the guy in the first two pic's!
I wear my Grundens and that is good sound advice to the tuna slayers. Bring raingear and wear it when de-loining even if it is hot outside!

Congrats!
Those shirts should never be washed! Save them for a reminder this winter when you cant get out! Just put that shirt back on and break out some tuna and sit back and dream ...

Uh, guys........
Nice catch, but.....
Parasites in Pacific Ocean fish
Sushi restaurants NEVER serve fresh raw fish. It is always frozen to kill the little buggers that'll get you.

Re: Pilar and the Tuna gangsta's! (pic's)
Dan - John and Greg don't have their shirts tucked in. They hang against the counter when the guys are cleaning fish. When they aren't cleaning fish, their cleaning their hands... on their shirts.
I'm sorry, I don't recall Mr. Clean Shirt's name, but he reminds me of my son. Never dirty. Could be making mud pies and he comes home clean. I don't get it.
Cooter - doesn't matter a bit. I washed our clothes when we got home and they still pretty much look like that no matter what I did to pre-treat them. EEEWWWW. At least they don't smell too bad.

Re: Pilar and the Tuna gangsta's! (pic's)
Too funny after 4 days of fishing last weekend.... I took all Monday off (no fishing) to clean the boat. Washed the boat, washed the dishes, scrubbed the head, scrubbed the coolers etc etc. Came home and showered, showered again in the am.
All day tuesday I could still smell feeshh on my hands. I didn't even do the carking!

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial, helv">Does he go like real super slow to avoid fish on his clothes?
Or does he have some magical formula.
The gals in the stores ask me if I have been out fishing. I used to ask them; how did you know?
I finally figured out when you are around the stuff all the time, you get imune to the smell.
No wonder dates are hard to find around here in Depoe anymore!

Re: Pilar and the Tuna gangsta's! (pic's)
Mel - me, too.
Dan - I didn't observe much of the carking (I was on boat detail), but Mr. Clean Shirt was right in there with the guys the whole time. Helped Gregotis finish up with his fish, too.
He's amazing. He probably didn't even smell bad, either. Of course, I was immune.

Aprons work well also like the ones you see meat cutters wearing.
But I just think John likes to park his tuna clothes out in the garage for that smell of Victory during the off (tuna hollics) season.

Re: Pilar and the Tuna gangsta's! (pic's)
Mel, you describe a familiar phenomenon: how tuna smell sticks mercilessly to your hands. On many occasions my wife has conducted inspections:
Me: "OK, I just washed my hands for the third time"
Her: "Nope, I still smell it. Do not touch me with those hands."
We did discover that lemon juice helps in the final removal. I keep one of those plastic fake-lemons with the fake juice in the bathroom. It feels just lovely when it gets into the cuts, too.
What works best is: just sleep on the couch.

Re: Pilar and the Tuna gangsta's! (pic's)
I am the dirtbag with the filth all over me. It was such a nice day while fishing I stripped down to the shorts and dirty tee. I was already bloody and stank, so what the heck just get into it and feel the true first tuna of the year. Those rags are still in the back of truck, and once in awhile I wipe away the tears at work thinking of albacore.

Re: Pilar and the Tuna gangsta's! (pic's)
Hey, don't give up on sushi DepoeBayDan. I eat sushi all the time. Just make sure you freeze it properly to kill the parasite larvae. There is little better than albacore tuna sushi. I'd do it after freezing for 60 hours at 0 degrees.
I at at Hiro's in LO often. He doesn't use any fish caught in a river (except fresh water eel, and that is cooked) and ALL of his fish has been hard frozen prior to serving.
It's Russian Roulette to eat fresh raw fish. Not worth the risk when it's easy enough to just freeze it first.

Re: Pilar and the Tuna gangsta's! (pic's)
Good point Pitch Pocket.
But I don't do sushi. Hear tuna does make some good sushi though!
I'm not really into oysters either. But those that BOE BBQ'ed at the Tillamook jetty gig were pretty good.
I like my fish cooked or any meat for that matter.
Just wish we could get some of those razor's though!
