Thanks Pete.........mine is a Raytheon L470. I was told it's probably the transducer and since I have a tru-hull.... I have to send the display unit in to verify it's the transducer.

Pete, I am having some trouble with my Lowrance and appreciate you giving us the customer service number. Mine will give me a reading and then not and then it does and then none. Gotta figure this thing out as I will be on the water again this weekend. Going out of DB. I would really like to find a reef and boat a few bottom fish and then work for a few salmon hoping for another chinook or two. Any ideas of how to find those close in reefs without running out to the rock pile?

Well, before I had a sonar, I used a ball of twine with a sinker on it and marks every 10 feet ...

Or you might pop an e-mail or two to a couple Dogs with a request for coordinates, if you have a GPS.

Default Lowrance, GPS/Sonar ... bad temp reading

My Lowrance GPS/Sonar decided (all on it's own) that the water temperature is 32ºF, no matter where I am or what the water is doing.

I called Lowrance and learned this: If your unit has a paddle wheel water speed sensor and you are getting a bad reading on temperature, disconnect the MY4 cable and plug the transducer cable directly into the unit. If this corrects the temperature problem, you have a bad MY4 cable. Apparently, this is not an uncommon problem. If this is the case, call Lowrance Customer Service, (800) 324-1359 (option 4) for a return authorization number.

Snapshot, my unit does the same thing but only when my second finder is on when I turn it off it works fine.

Just tested my unit ... it is the MY4 cable ... guess I'll get it replaced.

River Rick69, was on the water today and same thing. Only worked on occasions. I found the water to be 58 to 59 degrees just off the whistler buoy our of Depot Bay. Found lots of natives and a three keepers in about 67 hours on the sloppiest water I had been if for some time. That was a fish keeper per rod and I want and hope to improve on that.

Pete, I am not sure it is a cable as my unit is all in one and I don't think they run separate cables, do they? One for speed, one for depth and one for temp.? They do end up on different places.

On mine, the transducer has a cable and the speed-paddle wheel has one ... they join with a "Y" to go into the same connector. It's the "Y" that's bad on mine.
