Folks- the tides are huge this weekend (11 feet runoff Sat am at Newport, 10 feet at the CR  ) and daylight bar crossing may be a real problem. Be very careful out there. Remember that the CG can't see in the dark any better than you can so don't call for a report at 4 am and expect them to tell you.
I would NOT recommend crossing until there is enough light to clearly see the bar conditions, then call the CG for a report.
Under normal ocean conditions I would also wait until an hour after to cross any bar where there is sig. runoff (Depoe is about the only bar that doesn't have runoff). It would take very flat ocean conditions for me to venture out with these tides prior to the current slacking or the flood starting in.
Be careful- good fishing!
