Sea Jypzee brings home more long fins
What a day!! The Sea Jypzee left Depoe Bay with Wildhawg and Baitboy and Wildhawg's son, at 05:15 this morning, running with WP. We got about 9 miles out and a belt broke on the port engine, so had to cut the trip short and head for home.
We got back into Depoe Bay about 7:30am, Wildhawg and I ran into Newport and picked up new belts, and made a mad dash back for Depoe Bay, and by 9am we were back underway again for Tuna Town.
We met up with WP out about 30 miles offshore straight out from Depoe Bay. Around 124.40 - 124.43 area, and 44.56 lat area. There were no real temp breaks in the area, but we started scoring fish fairly regularly. Mostly singles. It wasn't long and we figured we had about 25 fish in the boat and began heading in dragging the tuna gear on the way in. We picked up a triple around 23 miles out from Depoe, and the water was still blue, so we kept heading on in. Our last hit was just inside the 16 mile mark straight out from Depooe Bay, got the fish right to the boat before it came off.
Final count was 21 Tuna, average grade of about 20+lbs.
Good luck to all who head out to the big pond this next few days. The way it's looking, you don't have far to go. The fish are very scattered at this point, but they're there.

Houston...Houston...this is the space shuttle WildHawg, over.
Some people play at work, while others work at play. Nancy's a hard worker--you figure it out
Me? I am a lazy bugger who seemed to come up with something last night around 8 or so which quickly took hold and precluded me for attending to my normally assigned duties at work.
I did however study pelagic icthyology  , which I hope will contribute to my broader body of research on the rare and endangered (as far as you know) Madrone Monkey.
Nancy,
That is all for know. I have to go chant.
Nom meeoho TUNA HO!!!!!!
Nom Meeoho TUNA HO!!!!!!!

South Paw - Without adventure what's the meaning of life? It was just a short notice run out.
Wildhawg - You almost have the chant right, but you need to add that little hip wiggle in there when you do it or it's not as effective.

Re: Sea Jypzee brings home more long fins
Sea Jypzee, Thanks for the great trip out to tuna town I had a blast. Wildhawg's son did an excellent job on all aspects of the trip. from handlines to rod and reel. Another Tuna melee in the memory banks...

Re: Sea Jypzee brings home more long fins
Nancy- I hope you bought 2 belts. Anything that breaks I either buy two of or buy a new one and rebuild the old as a spare.
Nice recovery on the day! You guys better not filter out ALL the fish before they make it up North!

Rick - Yes, he did a wonderful job. I see a future ifisher in the making in him!! Wsa great having you along yesterday as well.
Kujo - Not going out this weekend. Have to work. Have a great trip out though. Shouldn't have to go far.
Mel - Yep, got 2 belts figuring that I'd have an extra one available that way. I'm sure Rick is verrrrryyy busy taking care of tuna today.
