Re: Rockpile 62.1!!!!
Anything above 58 has the possibility to be tuna water.
From what I gather color is a better predictor though.
If you could find good temp breaks at that 61.2 degree water you would probably find fish.
I'm new to this Tuna stuff myself. How'd I do?

Re: Rockpile 62.1!!!!
Wait till we see what the temp is at about 4 am. There's definitely a little daytime, sunshine heating going on here. But without the big NW wind, that sub-surface southerly current that's been pushing this way for the last month is getting well established now.
After seeing the last good coastwatch shot, it looks like just another few (5? 8?) miles outside of the 45 / 125, there is 65/66 degree water. This could make for a real good shot at bluefin. Anyone want to go prospecting? Can you stand to keep running past jumping albies?

Re: Rockpile 62.1!!!!
Keep in mind boys, color counts too! Color breaks are good stuff to fish. If you aren't in or near the blue water, your chances go down considerably, regardless of water temp.
And regardless of temp and color, albies are rarely (if ever) caught inside the 100 fathom line. I have caught over 900 fish over the last 10 years, and exactly none have been caught inside 600' of water. Now bluefin are another story altogether. I sure hope we get into them this year.

Re: Rockpile 62.1!!!!
Did you guys read that link on the thread about bluefin. OMG. Reel seat nuts busted off and flying across the deck. I say at some time you have to drive past the peanuts and work the warm water for freight trains.
We need live bait!!!!

Re: Rockpile 62.1!!!!
Somebody (I won't tell who Pete) was worried cause the NOAA sat is showing cooler water. I think it's the phony cloud/fog thing.
CR is reading 63.7 right now, Stonewall is reading 63.0. Wish I was there!
